What You Can Expect

Montego Bay Snorkeling Tour

Snorkel in Jamaica's crystal-clear water!

Following pickup at your Montego Bay hotel in the morning, board a tour vehicle for transfer to the waterfront.

Once you arrive, board a snorkel boat and meet your friendly captain and crew. Listen to a short orientation and safety briefing, then take off for a short ride to the snorkel site. Watch the coast of the island recede behind you and enjoy the views of the island from your vantage point on the boat.

The captain will moor the boat at a calm, clear snorkel location. Don the mask, flippers and snorkel and jump in. Feel free to ask the crew for any directions and tips about snorkeling. Spend 90 minutes floating around the reef, watching schools of tropical fish flit in and out of the sheet coral and brain coral. Look for fish like bluehead wrasse and parrotfish, as well as eagle rays and sting rays skimming the sandy bottom.

When your snorkeling time is over, climb back aboard the boat and head back to shore. Your morning excursion ends with drop-off back at your hotel in time for lunch.

The trip was great - the company showed up on time at the hotel, and got us to the destination no problems. Captain - Marcus - was a good guy, took care of my son and i and gave us a nice snorkling experience. I would go again.

We received a confirmation call the day before from the company doing the tour. The driver was 15 minutes late but did call the front desk to tell them to let us know. The boat ride was short (about 8-10 minutes) to the reef we snorkeled over, but the time in the water was only about 30 minutes and then we were taken back to the place where a driver picked us up. It would have been better had we had more time. The instructor was pretty good, but I think because there were only two of us for the trip he didn't feel it was worth the time. Overall it was okay!

2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better September 2016

We chose this trip because it didn't go to Margaritaville and it had a long snorkel time., However, it went wrong from the start as the driver was over 45 min late in picking us up. took us to a dock where Peter was recruited to take us out on his motor boat that was In disrepair ripped seats and old There was no crew, as mentioned in the ad. He took us to Sergeant Major Reef and we snorkeled for 1 hour. Coral was beautiful but not many fish. He took us back to the dock. The van returned but we had to climb through the back as the sliding door was now broken. This was not the trip advertised on the website so when I returned to the US I sent a written and verbal complaint to Viator and Trip Advisor and we received compensation for our troubles. We appreciated that.

Worse tour I have ever been on. Poorly run and a horrible experience. They spoke in a different language the whole time, and we had to pick up another guy from a rock ledge. Myself and my girlfriend were the only ones on the tour and they gave us old equipment that hasn't been used in years.
