What You Can Expect

Montreal Food Truck Tour by Bike

Eat and ride on a Montreal food tour by bike!

This 3.5-hour tour starts at a central location on the Lachine Canal, near Atwater Market. Gather the necessary equipment for the day — a bicycle, helmet, lock, basket and a bottle of water. A poncho is also included in case of inclement weather.

After a quick safety briefing, listen to some interesting information about the street food movement in both the US and Canada, as well as the history of food trucks in Montreal, where they were banned from 1947 until 2013. Then hop on the bike and follow the guide down the bike path next to the canal to Old Montreal to begin this enjoyable 6-mile (10-kilometer) adventure.

Visit two food trucks in Old Montreal, two in Old Montreal’s business district and finally, two in downtown Montreal’s business district to hit your last two trucks. The exact locations will vary from one day to the next. At each truck, enjoy gourmet samples like Thai papaya salad, marinated and slow-cooked pork belly sandwiches with figs and dessert waffles.

Speak with the chefs when they’re available and find out how each food truck began.

The tour ends back near Atwater Market. Grab a map of central Montreal and continue the culinary exploration at leisure, if desired.
