Climb deep into the Todra Gorge on a full-day High Atlas hiking and mountaineering trip with a local guide. Clip into fixed gear on a multi-pitch, 'via cordata' climbing route that scales the ‘Ridge of the Rising Sun,’ and top out with stunning views of red rock cliffs and rolling sand. Meet local people in a nomadic encampment and follow a scenic footpath through Morocco’s most stunning canyon.
Meet your guide in the High Atlas town of Tinerhir, and learn the basics of safety and equipment while getting fitted with mountaineering gear. Hike to the base of the ‘Ridge of the Rising Sun,’ a 1-hour walk between the Todra Gorge’s soaring, brick red walls. Tackle a series of 'via cordata' rock pitches that are well suited to beginning or experienced climbers, following a route that’s bolted securely into the cliff. Leave the canyon floor far behind as you climb towards perfect views across the High Atlas landscape. Enjoy some time on top of the ridge before following a hiking trail back towards the village. Take a break along the way at a nomad’s camp, where you'll pause for a glass of tea—this is the perfect time to meet and mingle with High Atlas locals and learn a bit about daily life around the Todra Gorge. Continue to your starting point where you’ll have to option to have tea with a local family, then finish the day at approximately 4pm.
