This private 5-hour tour of Moscow, including Red Square (Krasnaya Ploschad) and the Kremlin, offers a comprehensive overview of the Russian capital’s top attractions. Ideal for visitors short on time, you’ll explore the UNESCO-listed Kremlin, the iconic riverside fortress home to four cathedrals, four palaces, and five squares. Plus, in Red Square, you’ll visit the colorful Kazan’s Cathedral, St. Basil’s Cathedral (Pokrovsky Sabor), Lenin’s Mausoleum, and the GUM.
At 10am, your guide greets you at your Moscow accommodation and provides a historical overview of the Russian capital. Your first stop is Red Square (Krasnaya Ploschad), which you’ll enter through Resurrection Gate before feasting your eyes on Kazan’s Cathedral and St. Basil’s Cathedral, both crowned by a colorful confection of onion domes.
See, too, GUM, the 123-year-old department store and hear about the terrible fate of architect Postnik Yakovlev, blinded by Ivan the Terrible to prevent the duplication of visual beauty.
Then, you’ll make the short journey to the Kremlin by foot. Absrob stunning city views from the Ivan the Great Belltower, once Russia’s highest building, and marvel at the ornate designs of the Assumption Cathedral, the Archangel’s Cathedral, and the Annunciation Cathedral.
Your tour concludes at the Armory, a lofty museum home to Russian, European, and Eastern weapons and jewellery spanning the 5th and 20th centuries.
The guide was very good
I had a very short time in Moscow and wanted to get a good overview of the city sites complemented by history, culture and food. My guide Dasha met me promptly at the hotel. She had excellent suggestions on how to maximize the time and adjust the tour to my interests. We started near Red Square and then walked through Kitai Gorod and back to Red Square to see St Basil's and the GUM up close. We then went on the Metro circle line and stopped at several stations to see the post-revolution living art. She reminded me that the Metro is classified as a museum ... for good reason. We then headed to Novodevichy monastery area where we had a Georgian hachapuri and dumpling lunch. After getting tickets to the Kremlin, we said our goodbyes. It was the best half day tour I have taken!
Julia was a delight and very knowledgable. We enjoyed her company throughout the day while getting to know the sights of Moscow. We would highly recommend! Thanks!
The tour was fantastic! Irina met us on time at our hotel and she was fluent in English. We had previously emailed her to purchase tickets to the Kremlin and the Armory. Irina was a wealth of information and she told us the history behind everything we passed. The best tour with the best guide!
Our guide met us in our hotel lobby and after meet and greet we sat down and went through the tour. Her English was very good and we got to see many different beautiful sights of Moscow and try authentic Russian cuisine at a local restaurant. The guide was excellent and I highly recommend this tour.
we had lovely day with our guide Tatyana! so many things we saw, she was extremely helpful, friendly, and well organized and she gave us a lots of information! In that one day we saw all Kremlin museums, churches, Red square, and learned a lot about Moscow and Russian great history! Also, she explained about contemporary life in Moscow. thanks to this tour we had a good starting point in exploring Moscow.
thank you for this great experience!
Our guide spoke English well. She was energetic and knowledgeable about the Kremlin. If you want Armory tickets during tourist season make sure you book well in advance. In a previous visit we signed up for this tour on a Thursday only to find the the Kremlin is closed on Thursdays. The Viator website does not disclose that information.
The tour is a must. However it is difficult to pack so much information in the period of time available. Lucy, our wonderfull guide, not only provide the information, as it made it look simple and flowing. She use flexibility wisely to accommodate to our needs. Lucy is knowledgeable on the matter and has an impressive global culture. We had a great and fruitful time.
Our tour guide Irina picked us up from our hotel lobby right on time. She briefed us about what to expect on the tour. It was a lovely sunny day when we started out. She was a well informed guide and filled us in with a lot of Russian history. Irina spoke fluent English and organized a well paced walking tour. There was never a dull moment with her. After almost six hours of being with us and showing us the beautiful sites enroute to and at Kremlin and Red Square, she finally left us at the Armoury. She then sent us suggestions of other sites we could visit along with directions to get there. She went above and beyond her call of duty to make our Moscow experience memorable. I would definitely recommend seeing Moscow with Irina.
This tour give you a complete overview of Moscow city. Our tour guide, Tanya, gave us clear and excellent explanation of the visited areas. At the end, she recommended us a fantastic russian restaurant and other places to visit. Thanks Tanya for your kindly and patient to us.
