This was a wonderful tour. The caves are wonderful. The only thing was that we had 2 guides and a driver: the driver from the hotel/ship to the harbour. Then the guide who took us to the Island and then on the Island itself we got another guide who was not happy with the tip we gave him which was more than a lunch meal worth for foreigners. We feld a little bit rushed through the caves and even skipping the smaller ones. The first guide was very happy with what we gave him...

Just a little delay at the pick up point, after that I had a beautiful service to the Gateway of India and back and an Elephanta guide provided to us a really complete explanation of all the Shiva sculptures present on the island.
At the end of the tour we had a complete knowledge of Shiva and Indian culture.

The person who accompanied me to Elephanta was helpful. But he was not the guide. The guide was a local i.e. stayed in a village near the caves. Not sure how much historical accuracy there was in what he said, seemed to be a lot of stories he had heard growing up there. I expected a professional guide with historically accurate knowledge - which can then be leavened with stories and anecdotes.

Sharukh and the driver picked us up from our hotel and took us to the gate of India. There we took a boat across to greet RFD local tour guide, Nitin, who knew so much about the caves and told us where to stand to achieve the best photos. We had a lovely time.

The caves are certainly intresting and worth seeing. I had one guide to accompany me to the island, and another who was very good to show me round. I've given only 3 stars for this trip because the journey time is really very long, esp. if you have to be driven through the city to get to the ferry.

The Elefanta Caves are amazing, definitely a must go. Our driver was great and so was the local guide in Elefanta. He was very patient and informative and knew all the great picture spots. My low rating is due to the guide provided by the company. He was very disinterested and did not really explain much throughout the day. He asked us how much we paid for the tour which seemed unprofessional. He did not explain anything about the India Gate which was his main responsibility during the tour, since we used a local guide in Elefanta. I did another tour with the same company the next day, same driver different guide and it did make a difference. If I would come back, I would not use this company again I think.

This was a good trip. We were picked up by taxi from hotel. The taxi driver got us onto the boat at gateway to India. You can actually get tickets pretty cheap from there. The cost of the trip included pick up, boat trip, miniature railway drive for 5 minutes and the guided tour. The guide met us on the island. He was good but you can get English speaking guides free provided by the Indian government.
The guide was very informative though it was sometimes difficult to understand him.
It is possible to do the same trip for a lot less money on your own though our hotel was a long way out and it did cover the pick up and drop off.
