Very interesting tour. I looked into getting there on our own and without a car it seemed difficult. It was very foggy so not great views that day but Still able to walk around on trails. Lots of info in documentation center.
Very interesting day trip. Our tour guide had very interesting facts about the area, the history and the destination. Only shame was when we were at the top of the Eagle's Nest there was fog and we couldn't enjoy the amazing views. If you are interested in WW2 history and German politics at the time its worth doing this tour.
The Eagles Nest part of the tour was terrific and totally recommended. From the picturesque scenery that you see on the bus trip through to the breathtaking views experienced once you reach the peak. This is truly amazing and well worthwhile if you have a day with excellent weather which we were fortunate enough to.
To state the obvious, the site also has a history and background that was well explained by the tour guide Elisabeth.
On the return journey the bus also takes you through the Berchtesgaden area which is also very nice but for me, the Eagles Nest part of the tour was a definite highlight.
Very nice tour. We actually made it to the top and even had some snow to deal with. Would recommend to anyone interested in history.
It is just a tea house but still very worth the drive out for the view. After you have been up, you go back to where the bus awaits and you can visit Hitler's Bunker.
We loved this tour. The tour guide was EXCELLENT! This was well worth the money - would do it again!
This trip was one of the highlights of our stay in Munich. The scenery was beautiful and the sites were very interesting. I am fascinated with WWII history and to see the sites was amazing. Be sure to see the underground bunkers at the documentation center. We had lunch at the restaurant by the documentation center and it was the best meal I had while I was in Germany.
We had a most scenic and memorable day at Berchtesgaden and Eagle's Nest. Elizabeth was our tour guide for a second time, enthusiastically sharing with us historical and geographical information about her native Germany during our bus rides out and back. In addition, she also passed around an album of photos taken during the construction and occupancy of Hitler's Eagle's Nest, and on the return trip she showed us a video. The ride up Mt. Kehlstein provided breathtaking views, and although the road is extremely narrow and winding, these Gray Line bus drivers are excellent, so you can feel safe and secure as you relax and take in the beautiful scenery far below. Eagle's Nest itself was most impressive, giving one the feeling of being at the top of the world. We enjoyed some delicious food in the restaurant there, and we also learned a lot by visiting the Documentation Center at the stop on the way down. This tour combines both the beauty of the Bavarian Alps with the history of Berchtesgaden and Eagle's Nest, and unless you suffer from severe acrophobia, I would highly recommend it.
We had an excellent guide Elizabeth who worked hard all day giving us historical information and fact. It was very well organised ,went like clockwork yet was very relaxed. We had gorgeous weather which made for a stunning trip. Lived up to expectations.
This was an extremely well organized tour led by Ursula and Simone the driver. Everything was handled in advance making the journey more enjoyable. The guides excellent and detailed descriptions of the sights brought depth to the experience. Booking and instructions were super-simple to follow. If all trips are like this with Viator, then definitely go. As for the location, the sights speak for themselves. Highly recommended.

This was a very interesting tour given the role that this site played in the Nazi movement. The setting of Berchtesgaden and the Eagle Nest is stunning. If you do this tour make sure you visit the documentation centre and the underground bunker system in the documentation centre. The bus trip back to Munich through alpine forests and mountains was very beautiful.
Highly recommend this tour. Difficult to understand how evil deeds could be planned in such a beautiful place!
It's a long scenic drive but worth it for the narrative by the tour guide on facts and history of Munich and Bavaria as well as the views from the Eagles Nest. It had snowed during the week prior, making the surroundings especially impressive. Our tour guide Ursula was a hoot! We recommend asking for her! We also enjoyed the stop in the town of Berchtesgaden to get souvenirs and checked out the beautiful old church and cemetery. The shop where we had some coffee and cake gave each of us a free shot of schnaps to try! Woohoo!
Bgreat tour - we had excellent weather which helped. the tour was very interesting and most worthwhile. Martina, the your guide very helpful and informative.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this tour. Historically, I had some reservations in seeing this site, but I'm glad that I did. The travel leader was quite informative about the region. I recommend exploring the region just below the Eagle's nest to see where other entrances to bunkers are. The museum there is done well, and the site was well preserved. I also suggest that you allow yourself enough time to wander around the area as the views are simply amazing.

The tour was very informative. Our guide was Elisabeth, and she was a pleasure to be with. The details she shared about our destinations, and the tips she provided to enhance our experience were terrific. Most importantly, the views of the surrounding area were beyond spectacular- we could see the fortress of Salzburg! We had been in the area just four days before our tour, and it was raining, with no visibility from the Eagle's Nest. However, in the mean time, the weather cleared, and we had a perfect blue sky with little or no cloud cover. Better still, Mother Nature had provided snow on the mountain tops surrounding us. What a wonderful memory for our visit to Bavaria!
Loverly weather made the trip especially good. Good guide marvellous views
A brilliant tour. Our German guide was pleasant, personable and helpful, as well as very knowledgeable about the sights both en route and at our destination. Bus was comfy. Spectacular views from the Eagle's Nest - worth the trip alone, even if you have no interest in pre-WWII history. The free time in beautiful Berchtesgaden was a welcome bonus. However, it is hard to countenance how such evil plans could have been hatched in such a perfect location.
Eagle's Nest was amazing. The view of the Alps and surrounding area is fantastic. We had a clear day so we could see for miles.
The tour runs like clock work with German precision. Berchtesgaden and Eagle's Nest are very close to the border with Austria. If one is also visiting Salzburg, recommend that starts the tour from that city, save about one hour each way. The guide, Elizabeth is very good in giving us all the information.
Wonderful trip with knowledgeable guide. She provided information about the town of Munich making our drive to Berchtesgaden not seem as long. The view is very dependent on the weather but the history is still worth listening too even if you can't see all the various cities from above. There is free time to explore Berchtesgaden for a bit where you can visit the Documentation center bring headphones if you do not understand German for the audioguide or walk around. The restaurant is a great atmosphere and a good bite to eat. Because of this I wouldn't really bother eating at the tea shop at the top of Berchtesgaden. Lots of fun and very informative if you are a history buff.
