We end the tour in our Tourist Information shop around the corner from the Hofbrauhaus roughly four hours after the tour started.

What To Expect

Meet your guide at 11:30am at Marienplatz 15 in Munich. Also known as the Spielzeugmuseum, which is under the Old Town Hall tower, the site is a convenient meeting spot in the center of town.

With your group together, you’ll listen to a quick intro to Munich and its sights. Stroll with your guide to the bike shop, then hop in the saddle and take to the road. Pedal at a conversational pace, taking in sights such as Odeonsplatz, English Garden, Max-Joseph-Platz, and the Hofbrauhaus.

After two hours on the road, you’ll stop for a break at the Chinese Tower beer garden and cool down with a crisp Bavarian beer and some food, if you wish. Then, return to your bike and continue the tour, looking out for the famous river surfers who ride the permanent wave in Munich’s central park.

Having enjoyed four hours out on your bike, the tour ends by the Hofbrauhaus. Hand your bike back, and bid your goodbyes to your guide and group.

A must do in Munich!

This was one of my favorite parts of my stay in Munich. The guide was super nice and it was only me and one other person so the tour was really engaging. If you’re on the fence, definitely sign up! You can think of it like a hop on hop off bus tour but with a bike. I didn’t break a sweat and we took a lot of breaks to learn about Munich’s history. It was super lovely.

This is our second time booking a bike tour with Mike's Bikes after a wonderful experience in Amsterdam. This tour is a perfect way to see the city, get a little history lesson on the way, and acclimate yourself! This tour is great for people of all physical abilities because you ride for 5-10 minutes, stop and see a point of interest to hear a bit about it, and then off you go again, so it was very low impact. Would definitely recommend this tour if you are in the area!

Disappointing bikes

The guide was knowledgeable and fun. The bikes were not acceptable. Mine had defective brakes. The hand brake did not work and the coaster brakes were not working properly. It took away the carefree aspect of the tour.

Hi Catherine. We have been striving to have our bikes in good touring condition but it appears we have failed to do so in this instance, for which we sincerely apologise. We are currently a man down with Corona and are just trying to make it to the end of this amazing yet frantically busy time for us. On a side note though and not that this helps you now, but for everyone else out there reading this, please approach your knowledgable, fun guide and tell him about your bike issues and he will have another guide come and swap out your bike within 20 minutes. We do this when we have a flat tire on tour, so not a bother for us, at all. Wishing you safe travels and with kind regards.

25 people with one guide is way too many for a bike tour. It was a beautiful day and the guide worked hard. I could hear everything he said. But the tour was painfully slow because it was so crowded.

I had a look and saw that you did our tour on Friday, the beginning of a long weekend here in Bavaria, not to mention, the peak of summer with the holiday makers making Munich super busy/crowded which in turn means that the tour was always going to be slow, even with ten people in a group, as there are many pedestrians, construction sights and traffic lights to navigate in the middle of the city centre. Sadly we cannot move the crowds or avoid them as that was the safest bike route to see the sights. so we are sorry your bike tour was not a five star experience but we hope our explanation puts things into perspective a little. Needless to say this is not always the case, mostly only on August. Wishing you safe travels.

Good Time/Fun on the Bike

I would rate the experience a 4/5. The tour was on the large side (a little over 30 people) and we were supposed to have two tour guides and ended up only having one due to the other tour operator's illness. It made things difficult because the tour leader had to manage 30 people, and when we made stops along the way, we had to spend time rounding up people and pulling them in close so that everybody could hear. It was a lot of logistical managing to get everything in place. There wasn't much biking that was done, we would bike for about 3-5 minutes and then make a stop, so I would advise anyone if they are thinking this will be any type of strenuous biking, it will not. I thought the tour guide was knowledgeable and knew details and information. On the whole, the tour met my expectations.

Hi Ryan. Thank you for your great review. Much appreciated. May I however add some information so that other readers get the whole picture. We take safety very seriously and we had two guides down for that tour but one of the guides tested positive for Corona, 20 minutes before the tour started so we immediately sent him one, and thus our problems began. Before the tour kicked off, we announced that it would be a big tour and if that did not work for you, we would give you a full refund or you could rent a bike at a greatly reduced price and explore on your own. We are also in the middle of the city so there are many traffic lights to navigate and many pedestrians to avoid, so yes, it may seem slow to some, but our bike tour is not the Tour de France and we do announce that in all our tour descriptions. We are really happy you came and also glad for the four star review despite the difficulties you personally faced and we sincerely hope you had a great time in Munich and that we enhanced your experience is some way.
