Marc was our tour guide and he was FULL of information. The tour was 3-4 hours and he provided us with a very detailed tour of the Memorial Site. We were able to glean insight into the times and learn how the camp was run and how it was used following the SS rule.
Kathleen our guide a german lady was really understanding of the significance of the tour and spoke first hand when she had been taught this period in history at school and was taken there as part of her own learning. Very well presented and explained
While certainly a sobering topic, this was the best of the best Viator tours. Could not have asked for a better tour or tour guide.
This was a great tour and we saw a different type of camp from our visit a few years ago at Auschwitz.
Steve was awesome.. VERY knowledgeable and very approachable with any questions,,, this tour is a MUST for anyone interested in this topic.. we would do it a 2nd time this time in the summer
Everyone needs to go and experience this place. It is not something anyone can say but go and see and you will Learn! The young and the old should go on the Tour. The guide was great! Very informative and he had a lot of passion in giving us the true experience of the tour.
Our tour of Dachau was well organized, inexpensive and extremely informative. Our tour guide, Nicola, was excellent, incredibly knowledgable and vey helpful. This tour is a very moving experience. I highly recommend it.
The tour guide, Steve, made this this tour one of the best I've been on for a quite a while. The tour was well paced and provided a comprehensive overview of German society during the 12 years Dachau existed.
A visit to the Dachau concentration camp is a must. Even for us who are from a different part of the world and have no connection to the events that happened here, it is an absorbing tour. For history buffs, it is an eye opening tour. We were lucky to have Steve - a research scholar as our guide. His knowledge about the subject was amazing and he was passionate about this topic and sharing with us as much information as possible about each of the exhibit areas. Some interesting trivia was about the camp being Himmler's pet project.
At the end of the tour, you are left with the questions - How could this have happened? Would this ever happen again?
This guided tour was a great way to see Dachau Concentration Camp. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and provided us with an overview of the history of the camp. There were a lot of visitors who hired headsets and walked around the camp independently. While this might suit some people, having a tour guide allowed us to ask questions and was a more express tour of the camp for those who didn't want to spend hours walking around.
I had read a comment on a previous review that said if youre in Munich, its important to take this tour and I agree completely. Our tour guide, Geoff, was very informative and also very sensitive, especially when our group was on the train out to Dachau and we were therefore in a public forum as he was providing us with some background history before arriving.
The memorial site and museum is very hard to describe and I suspect people will react to different aspects of it. I had expected it to be challenging, however I hadnt expected to find it as emotional as I did at times - especially at the crematorium. However, I absolutely do believe that its important to go, in the spirit of lest we forget. I thoroughly recommend this tour, and thanks again to Geoff for sharing his knowledge and being an excellent guide.
A very sobering experience yet a necessary one. Highly recommended.
Highly recommend. It's a journey that will stay with you forever.
Steve did a fantastic job of showing us around Dachau and he was very knowledgeable. He also related facts with other times in history. He kept the group together and was very engaging.

Excellent tour, Keith was our guide and very knowledgeable, he dont muck around so be prepared to WALK FAST or you will be left behind! Young children are not recommended but not a biggie for our 9 year old daughter as we warned her and prepared her for the video footage at the museum. Because she had read Anne Frank and watch her movie, she was able to apply this knowledge to real life tour information. Our family were blown away but its also very emotional / sad. If you are a sulky baba, take tissues. We LOVED the experience and very appreciative. I visited the camp 20 years ago and it has really changed. For the positive, educational development for the world to share and embraced. A MUST DO TOUR!!!
One should not visit Munich and not take this tour. It is a part of history that we should never forget. Dachau was a concentration camp - not an extermination camp set up in 1933, shortly after Hitler assumed power . Originally the people sent there were Communists and other political opponents of the NAZI regime. They were sent there for reeducation - an abusive and often fatal sentence. However the types of prisoners grew and soon anyone voicing opposition to the Nazis, or people the Nazi's did not like - including the Bavarian royal family, prominent clergy, resistance fighters, etc. I strongly recommend this tour for my fellow Americans to see how easily freedom can evaporate and abusive power can take over.
An amazing tour. Sobering but packed full of with our information thanks to Steve as an excellent guide. Getting to the memorial was a train and bus ride which we could not have managed with our limited German language
Similarly withput Steve we would not have had access t
Great tour. Very powerful and an important experience to teach you about compassion and human history. Mark was our tour guide and I HIGHLY recommend Mark. His English is great, he is very informative and knowledgeable. Even though this memorial site is rightfully solemn, Mark managed to make it a fun tour while also instilling a deep sense of respect and seriousness towards this beautiful memorial site. One thing to note, the tour was a little long. It is a lot of walking so be prepared to be a little worn out. It is important to read here that this is not a tour for lots of photo opportunities. You are allowed to take photos but its just not the kind of place to take a lot of videos and photos and still be respectful. Overall, great experience. Thank you Mark.
This tour is so so informative and interesting. The tour is emotional but our tour guide did a great job honoring all who had died/suffered at the camp. Such a special tour.
Deeply personal tour for so many. Very well done by our Guide. A must in your anywhere near Munich. Worth every minute of your time.
