Ettal Monastery and Zugspitze Day Tour from Munich

Ettal Monastery, Germany

This full-day excursion begins at the Bahnhofplatz in front of the ‘Karstadt’ department store, across from the main railway station. After boarding a motor coach, it’s approximately a 1-hour ride south to Ettal Abbey.

Once in Ettal, visit the monastery, Baroque church, liqueur distillery and bookstore that comprises Ettal Abbey. See how the Benedictine monks live and work in a pristine building whose construction dates back to 1330.

Then drive through Garmisch-Partenkirchen and on to Eibsee to see Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain at 2,962 meters (9,718 feet) above sea level. Take a cable car to the top of the mountain for incredible, breathtaking views. On a clear day, it’s possible to see over a thousand Bavarian, Austrian, Swiss and Italian mountain peaks at once from the summit. Descend back down the mountain via the Zugspitzbahn cog wheel train.

The tour ends with a return trip to Munich.
