Our tour guide, Alun, was very informative. He also showed much respect while guiding us through this very disturbing place.
While it is difficult to appropriately comment on visiting a concentration camp, my husband, 12 year old son and I all felt like this tour was educational and honest as to the atrocities that occurred in Dachau. Alun, our tour guide, was extremely knowledgeable, eager to answer questions, kind and helpful. Despite giving the tour for years, Alun conveyed the gravity and absolute horror that occurred at the camp while providing objective educational information. He guided our group with ease to the camp via subway and bus and throughout the facility. We were given about 45 minutes at the end of the tour to visit the museum exhibit on our own.
Alun provides an amazing experience. There were only four of us on the tour and he gave us ample opportunity to discuss and try to make sense of the senseless. If you’re going to Dachau, I would do this tour. The subject matter is beyond horrifying but it is important to bear witness, especially in this time.
If you are going to do Dachau do this one.
Moving and informative. Highly recommended.
Wonderful tour with Alun. Very appropriate for my kids ages 12 and 10.
Alun is a WEALTH of information. A delightful tour from start to finish, well run and so smooth. If you do any tour of Dachau, make it this one.
A tour not to be missed. Small personal group allowed us to hear every word the knowledgeable guide shared with us. Lots of interesting and human stories that brought greater meaning to the museum.
This is not a trip to review with gushing adjectives, do this trip, experience the emotions, take in the shocking realties and understand the historical value of this memorial site and go away enlighten.
Would highly recommend this tour. Alun was amazing from the timing of the trains and buses to reach Dachau to his extreme depth of knowledge of Dachau and the sobering subject matter. We learned so much and words cannot describe how it felt to stand in the place where such atrocities took place. A must do if you are visiting Munich.
