What You Can Expect

Munich Bike Tour with Optional Königsplatz and Olympiapark Visit

Visit Munich's top attractions like Nymphenburg Palace

Choose from a morning of afternoon departure time, then meet and greet the tour guide and group near the main station in central Munich. There will be a brief introduction to Munich before beginning the approximately 4-hour ride around and through this capital city of Bavaria and one of the most popular destinations in Germany.

Because there is so much to see in Munich, this tour takes advantage of the many old pedestrianized medieval streets the city offers. With frequent stops to learn about the sites and to take pictures, it all makes for a most enjoyable way to explore this fascinating place.

Cycling in Munich accounts for 17 percent of all traffic. In fact, Munich named itself Germany's Radlhauptstadt, or bicycle capital, in the summer of 2010. Around 80 percent of its population owns a bicycle.

Visit Max-Joseph-Platz, a large city square that includes the Munich Residenz, the former royal palace of the Bavarian monarchs of the House of Wittelsbach and the elegant Munich National Theatre, home of the Bavarian State Opera and the Bayerisches Staatsballett. Ride along the walkways of the tranquil Hofgarten, a garden in the center of Munich.

There’s the large Odeonsplatz square and Marienplatz, the city’s main square since 1158. Also, ride along Englischer Garten, Europe's largest city park and stop at the Chinese Tower beer garden (Chinesischer Turm) for a break and meal, snack and/or beverage (own expense).

Throughout the tour, the guide will provide ample information about Munich’s past and present — and maybe even offer some insight into where the city is headed in the future. It’s a great introduction to the city of Munich and all that it offers its visitors and residents alike.

Upgrade to the 5-hour tour and ride through Königsplatz, a square built in the style of European neo-classicism in the 19th century and a center of cultural life in Munich. Additionally, upgrade to a 7-hour excursion and visit Olympiapark, Munich, constructed for the 1972 Summer Olympics; Nymphenburg Palace, the main summer residence of the former rulers of Bavaria of the House of Wittelsbach; and BMW Welt museum.

The tour ends back in central Munich.

Had a great time on the 5 hour bike tour with our guide Caleb. He was very engaged, energetic and made sure the group had a fantastic day. He was extremely knowledgeable about the city, the history and the culture.

If you have any concerns about biking in Munich...don and #39;t sweat it. Munich is mostly flat with only 1 short insignificant hill.

If you and #39;re looking for a bike tour, or for that matter, any guided tour of the city, Mike and #39;s Bike Tours is the way to go.

We had a great tour guide named Keats who showed us some of the major, old, sights in Munich. He knew quite a bit about the city's history and provided enough information but not too much. The biking is easy and it's a great way to get an overview of what seems to be the most historic part of Munich.

I actually give it 6 stars out of 5.. It is, in my opinion, the absolute best way to discover Munich and even feel a little bit like you live there. Biking afford you a wider range during the tour and also gives you a feel for living in Munich. Caleb was absolutely fabulous, incredibly knowledgeable while also keeping a light tone and funny anecdotes. You can scan Munich and then decide what you want to spend more time on. My only regret is that we didn't do this as our first activity in Munich, it would have helped us better leverage our limited time there. Once again shout out to Caleb... great guide.
