That was an amazing trip to such a big city. Thanks to Grayline for providing such an amazing insight of the whole big city. Please do take the Grand tour pass, you can easily cover all the 12 places even after spending an hour in every place.
Great way to see the city. Highly recommended.
We did this on our first day in Munich to orientate ourselves. The stop at Marienplatz was close to where we were staying and we easily exchanged our voucher for our tickets. As with most of these tours you had headphones with your choice of language to listen to the commentary.
Unfortunately on the day we were there, there were demonstrations in the city so the buses couldnt access the inner city route during the afternoon. We were told that we could use it again the following day but unfortunately we had other tours booked so we couldnt take full advantage of this and missed some locations.
Nevertheless it was a well run service.
We were unable to find the locations to get on the bus for our tour so I paid for a tour that we could not take--frustrating day. I tried calling to get more information and could not get a response. The buses were not marked very well so we could not spot them easily--most cities have the Hop on and Hop off sign on the bus so it is easy to see. We went to three different locations where the voucher said we could catch the bus and were unable to find the bus stop. We did this same type of tour in Vienna and found the bus so easily--the bus stops were easy to find and see. Unfortunately, we were looking forward to seeing Munich in this same manner and were extremely disappointed.
Unfortunately this did not turn out well. The rating is not for the tour which had the potential to be excellent, but for the poor service/followup. We were booked on the Grand Tour and were looking foward to our trip. Having started our journey at 10.00am we did part of the route by bus.We got off at the 3rd stop to do some walking between stops. At stop 8, we waited for over 40 mins for a bus to come. When an Express Tour bus came along we asked why/where was our bus?. Apparently there had been a fire on our bus, but this driver offered to take us one more stop to reconnect with another Grand Tour bus. We waited there for another 45 mins until another bus was found. Although now mid afternoon we decided we could do one more stop and chose to go to BMW Welt: fantastic. We had been advised by the bus on-board commentator a bus would come to pick us up at 5.45pm. We ensured we would be at the pick-up point early, arriving at 5.30pm. We duly waited with others for our pick-up....but no bus had eventuated by 6.15pm. We all walked to the nearest station, to travel with local help by train back to the city centre. Although one person rang Grayline, no one answered the call. Nor was there anyone at the base pickup point when we got back to the city. No attempt at an apology from Grayline has been forthcoming. In total we would have spent about an hour on a tour bus. This was a most disappointing day. We feel we did not get 'our money's worth'....and refunds or replacement to equivalent value on future Viator bookings anywhere in the world, should be offered.
