The tour was a lot of fun!! Our two tour guides were excellent. The bike ride is very leisurely so even the most out of shape folks can enjoy it. Definitely check out this tour of Neuchwanstein Castle and Bavaria!!!
Wonderful excursion from start to finish. Finding the starting point for the tour was a tad tricky, being without a phone/not knowing German, but the guides could not have been nicer! They made certain the entire group staying together and that we were well informed during the entire trip. We had a gorgeous day for the bike ride, as well as the castle tour. Plenty of places and time to stop and take in the scnenery and snap some pictures. Lunch was delicious, with breath-taking views. Easy, relaxing, nice break from our trip where someone else could take the reigns. So happy we chose this instead of going the tour of Neuschwanstein from Munich on our own. Thank you!
Guests met up at Mike's Bikes in Munich, it seemed there was a little delay getting started. Walked to a very comfortable bus several blocks away. Natalia gave an informative introduction to the planned events and discussed various points of interest as we passed them leaving Munich. A couple movies were played on the bus reviewing Ludwig II's life and controversial death, but because of various passengers' conversations it was difficult to hear the audio.
There is a choice of joining the bike ride in the morning and touring Neuschwanstein, or touring Hohenschwangau in the morning and Neuschwanstein in the afternoon. We chose the latter. The hike up from the former to the latter is steep, and with good weather it is rather warm. Brad and Maikka were experts at making sure everybody reached the destination, considering the varying paces. They are also very good at drilling into the guests the necessity for everyone to be prompt at the meeting places, such that no one or several stragglers would hold up the entire tour group. Worked like a charm! They were excellent and pleasant hosts.
Definitely recommend this trip to others, well worth the expense: fun, informative, and full of exercise! We can't speak for the bike ride, but we cycle at home and figured we had better see Hohenschwangau while we were there.
The state guides in the castles were independent of Mike's Bikes. Our guide through the lower castle had a wonderfully amusing delivery: she would introduce a room or item in the room, pause for several seconds, and then surprise us with a funny and curious fact regarding it. Very relaxing tour. Neuschwanstein was a little faster paced, like a people mover to keep the groups proceeding through. Primarily a function of the two guides' personalities.
Amazing tour! With four sites visited the whole day was a wonderful experience. Our guide, Hunter, was informative, witty and relaxed making the whole day stress and worry free. 100 recommended for any one visiting Munich. One of the cities must do activities.
Amazing tour! I saw so much and learned so much more than I would have on my own. Sigmund was awesome and made the day really fun! Thank you
great guides. do the bike tour for sure! it is relaxing, light, and you see fantastic views of the castle and nature!
Wonderful trip! We had great guides and the trip was a great balance of activities! The food was excellent too!
This was an awesome day! The guides were great and very knowledgeable. They are not kidding when they say 'steep and strenuous', but if you can do it, it is well worth the effort.
The tour was wonderful with a picture perfect view of the castle. For sure do the bike ride! The guide was knowledgeable and funny.
This tour is a good way and efficient way to have a day out to visit Neuschwanstein Castle. This is a group tour so understandably there are quite a lot of people in the group and at times it may seem crowded.
There are several options and that was explained to you while you are on the bus. I took the most common option to have a bicycle ride, lunch and then followed by a guided tour to the castle. The other option was to go on your own after arriving there.
The bicycle ride through the Bavarian countryside was nice. It was a really nice day. The condition of the bicycle was alright but not the most comfortable. The lunch was standard and you pay your own. The guided tour in the castle was informative but it was a bit of a rush. This was understandable as you have thousands of people going through this every day. You will have to pay extra for the guided tour.
While you can take a bus up to the castle for 2 Euro, the only sensible option is to walk down when you are done. This is because you are like 30 down already when you walk down from the bus station to the castle. One caution is that the walk down can be tough especially for those with bad knees.
Our guides were Brad and his girlfriend and they were very professional and helpful. Brad even entertained us with his card tricks just after lunch. I think he will do well in a casino. Kelly attended to us on the bus and she was nice.
The tour is well run and you can see the passion and enthusiasm in the people who manages it. However I would like to suggest that they tone down on the reminder of the gratitude. The owner mentioned it on the DVD and Brad did as well. We all understand it is customary and I think it should just be left with the guide's explanation. In my opinion, overselling it undermines the good work that the guides were doing.
Very relaxing and fun trip. We were allowed to choose if we wanted to go on the bike ride or not so we decided to go see the Hohenschwangau castle and get lunch on our own which was great. The climb up to the castle and the views are well worth it! We got back to the city center by about 7pm so that was nice also!
Returned to this castle after 40 years and can say I enjoyed it even more! The entire family loved this tour and we had the perfect weather too!
It was a beautiful day spent! Not too over exerting. The guides Brad, Natalia and Mika were really great! Helpful, funny and friendly guides. We really enjoyed the bike tour and lunch was delicious. The views from the castle just amazing and breathtaking. It is a must do when in Germany.
The tour guides were very friendly people and the dog was cute. The bike tour was amazing experience as well... I should have brought swim wear to get in the lake!! One of the good point is we didn't need to wait for the long queue in the castle. Maybe better to book this tour rather than going there by own.
A fantastic day with Alec and Brad as our great guides. The nice mix of cycling and swimming in postcard settings, a top lunch at the beirhaus, highly informative commentary without overload and the fairytale castle, set this trip way above many day trips.
This was a fantastic trip. If you get Brad and Natalia as your guides, you will be super fortunate. I had a terrific time. This was easily the best tour I've ever taken. Brad's explanation of events that happened around Newschwantstein were absolutely riveting. He also had such a pleasant, approachable manner during the entire trip. Our group was encouraged to enjoy every opportunity along the way. We had plenty of time to take pictures and all questions were answered well. PLEASE do not hesitate to take this tour. It was the best experience I've had in Germany since I can remember.
Ryan and Natalia were wonderful. They made the trip a great experience!
Brad and Mika were absolutely incredible. The Bike tour and swim in Swan lake was the best way to start the day, and the castle in the afternoon was perfect. All in all it was worth every penny and more. I couldn't recommend this tour any to be any greater!
Great Tour ! Our tour guides were very friendly and knowledgeable, the bike tour was awesome .
Flexible options available to suit our needs. We chose not to do the bike tour since the weather was not that good but instead, we visited two castles during our trip. Very friendly and helpful tour guides to assist us.
Great tour! We had two guides, Alec and Brian, both extremely engaging and knowledgeable.
There was plenty of time on the bike ride to take photos and learn about the area, and also lots of time to enjoy lunch with a beer before exploring the castle with skip the queue tickets. Very much recommended
This tour exceeded my expectations. Our tour guides were exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly. I loved the bike tour at the base, a swim in Swan Lake, German lunch and a hike to tour the Castle. Amazing! A must do if visiting Munich for a couple days.
