Travel from Munich to Bavaria’s Neuschwanstein Castle on this day trip that includes round-trip transportation by train. Often known as Germany’s "Cinderella castle," Neuschwanstein was actually the inspiration for a different Disney story, the ‘Sleeping Beauty’ castle at Disneyland. Take a guided tour of the castle, and hear stories about the "Mad" King Ludwig II, who commissioned it. The entrance fee is not included, but skip-the-line access is, so you won’t wait in the main admission queue.
  • Neuschwanstein Castle day tour from Munich
  • Take a guided tour of Neuschwanstein Castle, the model for Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty Castle
  • Enjoy skip-the-line access to the castle
  • Admire views of the lake, waterfall gorge and Hohenschwangau Castle
  • Round-trip train ride to Fussen from Munich included

$56.81 USD

Your day trip to Neuschwanstein Castle starts with the approximate 2-hour train journey from Munich through the German countryside. The entrance fee to the castle is not included (you can pay on the day), but by booking this tour in advance, you’ll receive skip-the-line access to Neuschwanstein so you won’t waste time standing in the ticket queue.

Once inside the enchanting structure, take a tour with a guide, who shares fascinating stories about the reclusive Bavarian king who commissioned a new residence in the 19th century. Thought to be mad, King Ludwig II desired a fantasy castle built in the mountains, an obsessive feat that was still incomplete when he died. Visit the best vantage points for views and photo ops of the castle’s towers, interiors and surrounding scenery such as the lake, gorge and equally beautiful Hohenschwangau Castle.

Your tour ends with the 2-hour ride back to Munich. Offering great views, the trains are clean, comfortable and equipped with washrooms. You may walk around to talk with your fellow travelers and your guide, who can answer any questions you may have about Munich and Bavaria.

The tour guide Ali was very knowledgeable. But for the long hard trip up the mountain the actual tour was very short.

My family highly recommends this tour. Our tour guide, Charlie, was excellent. He did an excellent job managing the day and describing the story of the castle and King Ludwig. We really appreciated his sincere enthusiasm for the subject. This tour was a highlight of our trip to Bavaria.

Beautiful Castle Unfortunately it rained the whole day so we did not enjoy it very much. First of all the tour was advertised as a train ride out to castle, when we got to the train station we were informed that the transportation was to be by bus. We were disappointed at this we had just come off a tour in a bus for 14 days. This is why we booked the trip initially we wanted a train ride through the country. When we got to the town there was a long steep walk up to the castle. Our guide said it was not a bad walk, both of us in our 70,s would have never mad it up to the castle. Luckily my fellow traveler said lets take a horse and buggy ride 6 Euros or we would have not made it. There also was a bus to top. The castle entrance was very crowded took groups by numbers which was fine but the guide never explained to us how it worked. We did get into the castle with our group. We took the buggy back down to the bus area because by this time it was pouring rain. We were told to meet the bus in a certain parking lot there was a mix up there too and stood out in the rain for no shelter 1/2 hour. Needless to say it was a disaster of a day came home wet and tired and it was the last day of our vacation.

The trip was fun, effortless, and interesting. The castle did have some construction going on during our visit, but still plenty to see. The area around the castle may be more beautiful than the castle itself. The length of the trip did catch us off guard, as the total length of the trip with commuting was about 10 hours. The tour guide was funny and knowledgeable.

Tour was fun and interesting, though the inside of the castle was a rushed guided tour, but that is on the people running the castle. Our tour guide, Austin from Texas was very good and fun in all aspects of the tour. I would go on any tour he lead in the Munich area.

Jovo was our guide and he was excellent. The small group setting made our tour very personal. The cost was exceptional for the overall experience. The castle is exactly as it has been described..... a fairytale. The most beautiful countryside, landscape and castle. I would most definately recommend this tour. About a 2.5 hour bus trip from Munich, but the coach was luxurious, the commentary funny and interesting and you had the entire day to explore the surrounding grounds, lake, paths, bridge and waterfall and of course the castle. I loved every minute!

Came with my family to see this castle, i was amazed by the history of the Bayern dynasty as well as the architectural prowess achieved by Ludwig II, the fact that Wagner is involved in all of this makes even more thrilling and epic everything the paintings the music makes this an unique experience. I was lucky to have Luis Lopez as spanish guide who was very enthusiastic and eloquent about the history of the castle and it's inhabitants back on 1800.
