The entrance fee is not included, but skip-the-line access is, so you won’t wait in the main admission queue.

What You Can Expect

Neuschwanstein Castle Small-Group Day Tour from Munich

Neuschwanstein Castle Small-Group Day Tour from Munich

Your day trip to Neuschwanstein Castle starts with the approximate 2-hour train journey from Munich through the German countryside. The entrance fee to the castle is not included (you can pay on the day), but by booking this tour in advance, you’ll receive skip-the-line access to Neuschwanstein so you won’t waste time standing in the ticket queue.

Once inside the enchanting structure, take a tour with a guide, who shares fascinating stories about the reclusive Bavarian king who commissioned a new residence in the 19th century. Thought to be mad, King Ludwig II desired a fantasy castle built in the mountains, an obsessive feat that was still incomplete when he died. Visit the best vantage points for views and photo ops of the castle’s towers, interiors and surrounding scenery such as the lake, gorge and equally beautiful Hohenschwangau Castle.

Your tour ends with the 2-hour ride back to Munich. Offering great views, the trains are clean, comfortable and equipped with washrooms. You may walk around to talk with your fellow travelers and your guide, who can answer any questions you may have about Munich and Bavaria.

AWESOME!! I would highly recommend this one, I believe our tour guide's name was Adam? He knew a lot of background information and was knowledgeable on King Ludwig II.

Our tour guide was both, knowledgeable and fun. Very funny, to be precise. The castle is stunning, the inner tour was rather too short and the castle’s own guide (not the same as the tour guide) was just ok.
Tour recommendable for families with teenage kids and individual young travelers.

Great tour.
Definitely a must see.
Best part was out guide - Jeff.
Very knowledgeable and entertaining.
Had a nice trick for keep the train car as private as possible from daily commuters.
Comfortable train ride with not too many stops.
Be advised a lot of uphill walking for those not accustomed to long walks.
The tour runs like a German train. Basically 5 minutes in each room of the tour
Very efficient, but very little time to explore or study the artifacts inside.

Our tour guide Verena was excellent. She was raised in Munich and had a tremendous amount of knowledge, she shared great information on the history of Neuschwanstein and King Ludwig. She interacted with everyone in our group and connected with everyone on the train ride home to answer all their questions. She was simply the bestrecommend highly!

Neuschwanstein Castle was the highlight of our trip! It was a dream come true for me...something that has been on my bucket list for years. Dan and Thomas were our tour guides and they were awesome! We split into 2 groups of 20 which was a perfect number for each group. They were extremely knowledgeable with the history of the castle. I am a very slow walker and I told them before we hiked up the steep hill. They gave the option of taking the carriage, but I opted to walk later regretting it. They took numerous stops along the way and filled everyone in on more history as we all caught or breath. The last bit was the hardest for me, but Dan always made sure I was not forgotten even when I had to lag behind a little. We tipped him at the end of the tour but most people walked away and didn't even thank them. Please, please be considerate of your guides and at least thank them if not give them a little tip. I would highly recommend this trip and this company. If I ever get the chance to go again, I would use this company and request these 2 tour guides. Thank you so much!
