Both islands you visit on this day trip are spectacular, so have your camera ready. Be sure to visit the Benedictine monastery on tiny Fraueninsel island.
We got engaged here! Absolutely stunning!
Enjoyed the lake, the islands, the castle, and an excellent guide
A wonderful trip with a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. We were delighted to see the third Castle of the Mad King Ludwig or, as they called him in Munich - The Swan King. It was a wonderful copy of Verseilles and even though unfinished, the furnishings and glitter of the rooms viewed were astounding.
Fraueninsel was lovely and the church another gorgeous example of Medieva/Baroque architecture and furnishing.
Our tour guide was Franz and he was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about the history of Bavaria and Ludwig II, very informative about the history of the islands and the beautiful Herrenchiemsee castle. We had a delicious lunch on the Fraueninsel island and the ferry boat rides were great fun. We had a great time-highly recommended!
Very well organized! The guide sorry, lost his name was very knowledgeable. . .and had that unique gift of keeping us on track, and yet making a group tour feel personal. I'd highly recommend this tour.
Franz, our tour guide, was amazing. He was the favorite of the tour guides that I had had. If I could figure out how to request specifically him, I would do it! I also enjoyed the trip and the sights. Wonderful trip.
We were a smaller group on the bus so it was much easier for our guide. She was very good in telling us about the history and giving us suggestions at our destinations for sights to see. Small details made our trip very enjoyable.
Our guide, Monica, was very knowledgeable about the history of the area . I became very interested in the life of King Ludwig and am now reading up on this interesting man. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
In one word...awesome
Fraueninsel is the idyllic isle and Herrenchiemsee the castle that one can only marvel at.
The trip is remarkably interesting and Herrenchiemsee is in my opinion the most moving and interesting of King Ludwig's "castles". The guide's English was poor. He was clearly bored to death and proved unwilling to provide information of any kind beyond: "look to your right, there's a nice church".
