Alex was an awesome guide and made the day really worthwhile. Admittedly it was a shocker when he turned up at 7am and the booking said 9, but this was the benefit of his local knowledge, it allowed us to be out of the city and enjoying breathtaking views of the great Rift Valley. He stopped at a couple of places for photos and advised on good prices so we were no ripped off. The guide could say sturdy shies and some climbing necessary, but the hike through Hell's gate was fun and informative. The hippo safari and wild bird boat ride capped the day off, it was a full day of seeing Kenya at its best. Alex was the perfect guide, he said enough to be entertaining and informative and knew when to let the scenery speak for itself. He was very knowledgable on all of the local fauna and geology, in short I would highly recommend both Alex and the tour as a great day.
Amazing!!! Simply AMAZING!! George is awesome he is the perfect guide/driver you and #39;ll ever meet!! Extremely RECOMENDED; ask for other tours as well!!
THIS IS A MUST!
George from Perfect Tours was Amazing. Picked up on time. Great sense of humor, extremely knowledgeable abt the spots on itinerary, and Kenya history and culture as a whole. He planned trip very well. Great views of landscapes and animals; hells gate amazing; Lots of birds on boat trip- worth it!!
This was an awesome tour. Saw lots of animals. What an experience biking along while zebra's graze.
George was an amazing tour guide--friendly, fun, full of information, and always ready with a good joke. The bike ride through the park was beautiful, easy, and relaxed. There was plenty of time for photos or to just stop, take a few deep breaths, and admire the view, which presents new surprises every few minutes. I don't think I'd want to do a safari in any other way now. The gorge took a bit of effort here and there, but it was well worth a few beads of sweat. And there were only a few. The Fisherman's Camp lunch was tasty, the location relaxing, and the boat trip is a must.
It was an incredible day, and I would heartily recommend booking this trip with George and his crew. He could charge twice and much, and you'd still be getting a great deal.
If you have a day in Nairobi and would like to enjoy the great outdoors and get some exercise then this is definitely the right trip to choose. We were picked up by Alex at 7 am and drove to the Great Rift Valley. The escarpment down to the valley is an experience in itself with all the traffic but wonderful views over the valley. 7km cycling in Hells Gate Park to reach the gorge with a wide range of animals on the way. The walk in the gorge includes some climbs but is really worth the effort. Lunch at the Fishermans Restaurant is wholesome and the view over the lake is magnificent! We also thoroughly enjoyed the boat trip as we came up close with various groups of hippos, watched the African Fish Eagle swoop down for its prey, and saw the pelicans take off right next to the boat. A very nice day which we will remember for a long time. Thanks also to Alex!
We had an amazing day! George picked us up at our apartment in Nairobi which made things a lot easier for us - we really appreciated that. Our drive to Hell's Gate National Park was good - George was very knowledge, I think we learned some interesting things about Kenya. I haven't done a biking safari before - loved it! Easy pace, no problem to stop and take lots of pictures. The gorge hike was different then we expected - but we loved it. Lots of climbing and finding you way along the sides and floor of the gorge. Great lunch at Fisherman's camp overlooking Lake Naivasha. The boat ride was awesome - wonderful picture opportunities to see lots of birds and hippos. Really enjoyed that part - well worth the 20 USD for the boat ride.
What a wonderful introduction to Kenya. George was amazing and very knowledgeable. I will admit I am not the fittest of people, but bike riding through the national park amongst zebra, giraffe, and baboons was one of the best experiences I have ever had. At one stage we were that close to the giraffes you could almost reach out and touch them. The walk through hells gate was breathtaking. We had lunch with a view of the lake, before getting into a boat to explore the bird life and find a hippo or two. I would highly recommend this trip for anyone who wants to get out of the city for the day. Thank you George for a brilliant day
Absolutely Amazing. George is definitely a character and this is one of the best day trips that I've been on in any country! The animals, the scenery, throw in some rock climbing, bicycle and boat ride, you have yourself a good day out. It is quite a long day though, so be prepared for that.
This was a great trip. George and his team were fantastic with the guide being very knowledgeable, taking time to point out great views over the Rift Valley on the way down to hell's gate. Inside the bike ride was the highlight of the day with so much wildlife right besides you as you cycle past!
The boat trip was a lot of fun too with your own private boat ride being organized and the guide getting one of the Eagles to swoop down into the water and catch some fish.
Overall a fantastic day out and would thoroughly recommend booking up if you re looking for a full on and fun do trip while staying in Nairobi!
This tour was great and great value for money. George drove along for the first two hours and was both informative and talkative and knew a lot about the area and history. Not all they other guides for the various spots talked as much, but were all very friendly and responded to all questions. The trip was well planned and executed and a great experience all in all. Highly recommended!
I had one day to explore Nairobi and its surroundings before my business meetings started. Since I prefer to get out of the cities and see the countryside of places I visit, I opted for something else than Nairobi National Park. It turned out that the day trip to Hells Gate National Park and Lake Naivasha was everything I could wish for and more! Awesome!
My guide George was knowledgeable, funny and drove me safely around all day. After a couple hours drive incl. a viewpoint stop, we arrived at Hells Gate. This is the only park in Kenya where people are allowed to walk and bike inside the park, as there are no dangerous animals present.
Park guide Brian and I biked in the beautiful park for a few hours and we even saw a leopard crossing the road ahead of us! Apparently this is a very rare sighting even for guide Brian, and he proudly told everyone about it. We saw lots of other wild animals along the route as well. We also hiked in the Hells Gate Gorge for an hour. The spectacular river gorge was breathtaking.
From Hells Gate, the trip continued to a wonderful lunch spot by Lake Naivasha. Afterwards, I spent an hour in a lake boat with guide Edward, who could tell me all about the various birds and animals in and around the lake. We viewed some hippos from a distance, which was fine with me as they are scary animals. It was lovely being out on the water in the open boat.
I loved being outside and active instead of sitting in a car all day. If you are like me, dont hesitate to book this trip and you will have a great experience with George and the crew! BTW make sure you dress comfortably for a sometimes sweaty bike ride - it gets dusty and warm :
Also - keep Georges card in case you need a driver for something one of the other days you are in Nairobi. He fixes everything!
I had an absolutely wonderful time on my tour with George. He picked me up on time and at our agreed upon location, and from the start, I knew I would have a great day! He's super funny, approachable, and friendly. You can tell George is extremely knowledgeable about Kenya and all of the sites. He was able to point out historical facts, name the different animal and bird species we saw during the drive, and even taught me a little Kiswahili along the way. For anyone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of Nairobi for a day, this is the trip for you! From biking next to Zebras, hiking through the beautifully scenic Hell's Gate Gorges, and boating alongside playing hippos, I couldn't have asked for a better Saturday. And it really is a great value considering all that you do in the day! I am definitely looking forward to doing more tours with George in the future.
I very much enjoyed this trip! If you do not have much time to explore Kenya and want to see some of it's great nature nearby Nairobi, this is the trip you should be make. Discovering Hells Gate national park on bicycle is a peaceful and wonderful experience. My guide, Simon request when enter main gate, explained all I wanted to know and showed me around in the beautiful gorge. A must see!
In the afternoon, I did a boat trip in lake Naivasha and saw up to 60 hippo's including some new borns. Overall, Viktor was a great tourguide and driver. This was really the best experience to finish my week in Kenya!
Excellent, I saw all kinds of wildlife, natural beauty, thermal springs and great weather.
I was met by both Steve and George. Right from the start of my booking they were amazing.
I was travelling by myself, not such a good bike rider and was staying along way from the pick up points they were totally flexible which made the day much happier.
The boat ride on the way back to Nairobi is fantastic too.
Incredible! By far the highlight of our trip to Kenya. There are many tour companies in the area, but this is the one that you definitely want to book. George is knowledgeable, entertaining, and professional. The trip itself is awesome, but it's George that makes it extra special.
Some background: My team was working in Nairobi for two weeks, only had a few days off, and wanted to maximize our free time. This tour seemed like a good option, as it combined multiple activities in one day. We were initially worried about feeling rushed, but that was not the case at all. In fact, it was the opposite - George encouraged us to take our time. We actually arrived home late, because we were having so much fun.
As for the tour itself: in just one day, we biked with wild animals a giraffe ran across the road directly in front of us!, boated with hippos, had the most delicious meal of our trip, hiked the breathtaking gorges, visited the hot springs, and more. George knows all of the best spots and the local people. He made the trip truly memorable and personalized for us.
Hell's Gate and Lake Naivasha are beautiful. Plus, the tour really is a great value when you consider all the things you will do in just one day. Book this one. You won't regret it.
A nice day out. Just the fresh air and the stunning landscape are already worth the trip as you can enjoy them on a bike while you also see some gorgeous animals. The walk in the gorges is really beautiful and is specially enjoyable if you have good shoes and can concentrate on the walking and not on the shoes :: Take water with you and a good hat. The lake Naivasha has nice views and is a gentle reminder of the greediness of humankind, as the poor hipos do not have much space to room around the lake anymore. Lunch ther eiwth fresh fish was good. My guide was friendly and professional. We had a flat tire on our way there but he was well prepared and we continue our trip with only a small delayed.
The tour was a great option for those who have limited free time in Nairobi but still want to see Kenya outside of the city. Joel was my guide and he got me safely to and from each location and provided some great knowledge of Kenyan society and the places we were going.
The portion of the trip to Hells Gate National Park was quite enjoyable, giving participants the chance to get relatively close to several species of wild animals in their natural habitat, all while riding--mostly level or downhill--some durable mountain bikes. It was all done at one's own pace, with plenty of time to stop along the way and take photos. The hike through the gorges was interesting, but did involve some steep and treacherous slopes one of the group members sustained a serious arm abrasion while climbing a certain pitch with a knotted rope. The restaurant lunch was excellent and affordable. Later, there was a stop along the shoreline of Lake Naivasha for a powered boat ride to see hippos, water birds, a pair of eagles, and plenty of terrestrial mammals viewed from the water. For a few members of the group, the expectation was that the cruise was included in the cost of the tour, but it was, in fact, an optional extra. The tour leader was very apologetic about the misunderstanding and offered a special discount, at his own cost, to those who had misunderstood the nature of that part of the tour it was an especially considerate and appreciated gesture. The day ended well, and it was a great excursion, long to be remembered.
The tour itself is beatiful. Lake Naivasha is stunning, calm and you get to see hippos! In Hell and #39;s gate you cycle yo see the wild life which we quite enjoyed. I think we could enjoy even more if we were a bit more prepared for the tour. I wish the description of the tour is more accurate.
My trip to Hells Gate National Park and Lake Naivasha was definitely enjoyable. The tour company was flexible enough to change the booking from one person to two people on the spot. The driver was good and he made sure we drove safely.
There are two reasons why I don't give 5 stars:
1. I was being told that pick up was at 7am - whereas the driver told me that pick up was supposed to be at 8am. Miscommunication?
2. When we received the bill for lunch we found that the driver had put his lunch on our bill. He was certainly a nice guy, but it would have been good to know that in advance to calculate our budget more wisely.
Besides, these two issues, it was still an enjoyable trip.
