This tour is definitely something you do not want to miss. Not only did we enjoy the Elephant Orphanage and Giraffe Center, we enjoyed our tour guide as well, Greoge. Greoge was very knowledgeable about the animal centers and other things to do in Nairobi. He made us feel safe and he had very good customer service skills .
Excellent tour! The whole day was fantastic. Our guide, Shaddie, was full of information and had a delightful personality. 5 stars for him! The elephant orphanage was so interesting and inspirational. I have a deep appreciation for what they are doing to save the orphan elephants. The giraffe center was lots of fun--up close and personal to a giraffe! Lunch was so good--we had the feta cheese with pomegranate seeds and avocado toast, and a beer. The best! THe ceramic bead factory was also very interesting and our tour guide (sorry, I can't remember the name---a young man) was very good and entertaining. I would highly recommend this tour!
We went to the Sheldrick Orphanage and the Giraffe Center on our one free day in Nairobi. Our guide was Sammi who was spectacular! He provided us insight into Kenya on our first day there, he was timely, he got us to where we wanted to go and provided additional information on other sites we may want to see and got us back when we were done. The Orphanage is wonderful. I still think about those precious baby elephants running to get their feeding, esp. given our country's leadership thinks it's okay to murder these beautiful, wonderful creatures. I hope the Sheldrick Foundation continues to do their wonderful work. I miss those elephants every day.
I strongly recommend you to work with perfect wilderness tour.
The driver/guide Shadrack is very experienced, polite and friendly. He told me a lot about Kenya, answered all my questions. Everything was perfect- he was in exact time how it was arranged, called me and found me at the airport. While driving he was showing me each sightseeing we encountered with. After each stop he was wondered whether everything was ok. The tour was beyond my expectations.
Definitely is worth booking.
The trip was a good day out to see some of Nairobi's animal sites. George was on hand to confirm pickup the morning of the tour and Vincent was an accommodating driver, allowing me to add mamba village in my full day tour for lunch and to see the crocodile feeding, I would say the Full-day tour is what you make of it, in that the Elephant Orphanage and Giraffe Center alone probably wouldn't be enough to make a 'full day', but from my experience the organisers are flexible to allow you to adapt the day meet your requests so perhaps plan your tour beforehand. All in all, a good day out!
Brilliant experience Amazing to watch all the little elephants trotting down the hill and to see them so well looked after and to be able to feed and get a kiss from the giraffes. Driver was great, we asked to be dropped off at the museum rather than the hotel and so got a mini tour of Nairobi as well.
After booking this tour through Viator, we communicated with George from Perfect Wilderness Tours and Safaris, the tour operators to ask whether we could visit some other places besides those included in the tour. He kindly agreed at no extra charge but advised that we depart earlier as we wanted to visit the Giraffe Centre first before it got too crowded.
The driver, Sammy, was at our hotel punctually at 8.30 am as pre-arranged. We went first to the Giraffe Centre where we had ample time to learn about the animals and to get close enough to them to cuddle and stroke. An amazing experience.
We made it in good time to the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage after that where Sammy led us to the best viewing point.
Carnivore had been recommended to us as a must eat place and Sammy obligingly took us there for lunch. It was meat overload and heaven for the true carnivore. We were introduced to Dawa, a delightful and refreshing vodka laced cocktail. We then went on to the Kazuri Bead Factory where we watched the women make and string beads entirely by hand, singing while they worked. We love those African chants and rythms!
It was time to visit the Karen Blixen Museum, an option on the tour. It had been made clear before we booked the tour that the entrance fees to this was not included so it came as no surprise to us. We enjoyed strolling through the house and the grounds and learning about the woman who loved the place and the people so much that she was so reluctant to leave.
After that, at our request, Sammy took us to Tamambo formerly the Karen Blixen Museum Coffee House where he accepted our invitation to join us for tea in the beautiful grounds of the restaurant which we learnt to our surprise, is also run by the people who run Carnivore.
Traffic being what it is in Nairobi, Sammy finally got us back to our hotel at 7 pm.
It was a wonderful day out, made possible by George's kindness and Sammy's wonderful service. George was prompt in responding to all our emails and queries and was accommodating and helpful. Sammy, too, was accommodating, patient, helpful, cheerful and full of interesting information. He was also a wonderful driver, familiar with all the diversions to take to beat the traffic.
Going by this experience, I'd travel with Viator and Perfect Wilderness again without hesitation.
Seriously beyond our expectations! Shadi was an amazing tour guide. He was very kind and funny and made our day smooth and interesting. I highly recommend it, he took care of us and gave us tips to avoid crowds and make the most out of our day. The places that he took us were amazing! Thank you!
