What You Can Expect

3-Night Southern Italy Sailing Adventure: Procida to Amalfi Coast

Visit Pompeii on a 3-night sailing adventure!

Begin your 3-night sailing extravaganza by hopping on a comfortable yacht in the town of Procida, meet the crew and learn about the itinerary of the trip: the boat follows a path starting in the Bay of Naples, doing a bit of island hopping on beautiful and rugged Ischia and then cruising along the fabled, sun-splashed Amalfi Coast. The yacht may be intimate, with five cabins and three shared bathrooms, but it's comfortable and cozy. Note: if you're an individual traveler, you may have to share a cabin and bed with another passenger of the same gender.

During the trip, you can opt to help the crew out, if you wish. Assist on the deck by helping to set or clear the tables, for example. Breakfast and lunch onboard the ship are included. Dinners are taken on land and at your own expense.

When on land, make the trip with a host to get great tips on what to see and where to eat in destinations such as Ischia, Naples, Amalfi and Sorrento.

Please note: any attractions mentioned below are to give you an idea of the variety of things to do in each destination, but they are only an example and are not included; all entrance fees, tours and activities are at your own expense.

Day 1: Procida – Ischia
Your 3-night sailing adventure starts with a welcome meeting on the island of Procida – the smallest and oldest island in the Bay of Naples. Then, walk to the port, board your boat and cruise to the nearby island of Ischia. After docking, visit Castello Aragonese, a sprawling fortress complex that comprises a castle, cathedral and crypt. Built in the 15th century, the fortress was once used to protect the island from pirates.

Spend the rest of your afternoon exploring the island independently. Perhaps head to Le Fumarole Beach, and bask on its warm and dry sands – heated from a volcanic basin lying underneath the bay. Visit a local restaurant for dinner (own expense), and then return back to your boat at the pre-arranged time.

Overnight: boat docked in Ischia

Day 2: Ischia – Sorrento – Pompeii – Sorrento (B, L)
Enjoy breakfast on your boat as you cruise away from Ischia to the town of Sorrento, near Italy’s Amalfi Coast. After docking at Sorrento port, either stay in Sorrento and spend a day at leisure or head out on an optional excursion to Pompeii.

Overnight: boat docked in Sorrento

Day 3: Sorrento – Naples – Sorrento (B, L)
After breakfast, make your own way to Sorrento Station and hop aboard your train to the city of Naples. Once there, how you spend your day is up to you.

Overnight: boat docked in Sorrento

Day 4: Sorrento – Amalfi (B)

Cruise south away from Sorrento as you eat breakfast on board your boat, heading to the town of Amalfi. Your tour finishes after docking.
