What You Can Expect

Naples City and Pompeii Half Day Sightseeing Tour

Explore the ancient ruins of Pompeii

Begin your trip at your selected departure point, either at your Naples hotel or the Naples train station. Then, hit the streets for a 2-hour coach tour of the vibrant southern city. Pass through the main square of Piazza del Plebiscito to see San Francesco di Paola church and admire the medieval Castel Nuovo, one of the city's major architectural landmarks.

Explore the Royal Palace of Naples on foot, home to the Bourbon Kings in the 18th and 19th centuries. Then step inside the Naples Cathedral and hear the fascinating story behind the miracle of the blood, where a vial from the city's patron saint is brought out twice a year. Top off your city tour with a visit to the Posillipo quarter, gazing out at the Bay of Naples.

Hop back aboard your coach and relax on the brief ride along the coast toward Pompeii. Enjoy a break to purchase lunch before beginning your guided tour around the largest archaeological site in Europe.

See Vetti's House, the Thermal Baths, the Forum and the Lupanare brothel, all buried by volcanic ash, and learn more about how this ancient city was destroyed by the infamous Mt Vesuvius eruption in 79 AD.

After two hours wandering the ruins with your guide, your tour will conclude with transportation back to Naples.

Well organized tour allowing us to see Naples Cathedral and the Panoramic places for ourselves early... It was almost like we had Naples must visit places all to ourselves to enjoy for the first leg...then we transferred to Pompeii with a new group. Maria our guide was great!!

We had a great tour and our tour guide Elena was the best! Despite the rain we had an enjoyable tour of Naples and felt a new appreciation for a city that gets a bad rap! We even returned at the end of our stay to visit the archeological museum at her suggestion! One of the highlights was our visit to Pompeii and were thrilled that the rain held off and we could enjoy the tour and learn from our wonderful tour guide the colorful history and world wide fascination of Pompeii!

Our guide, Andrea, was excellent. Entertaining, very knowledgeable and very funny too! We enjoyed our tiny glimpse of Naples and were fascinated with Pompeii. Next time we will spend more time at both.

Promptly picked up at our hotel in a clean, air conditioned bus and met by Andre, our guide for complete tour. Andre is fluent in many languages, but English was our language and we were very pleased. His passion is history, therefore, we had an informative tour with a tremendous amount of humor thrown in. The city tour was quick but saw much more than if we were on our own. About 40 minute ride to Pompeii. The site was so interestingly presented by Andre. While there were headsets for the Pompeii portion of the trip - it was always easy to hear and understand what Andre was saying. Back at the entrance, a gift of Lemoncello was a welcome treat. At this time, we opted to go on to the afternoon Mt. Vesuvius tour which included lunch. Lunch was a typical Italian lunch. Another short ride and we were at the base of Mt Vesuvius. We were given time to climb and return Its a hike, but well worth it. Again spectacular sites from the view at the top you will think was worth the hike. This was the last of the 5 tours we took with Viator in Italy. All upcoming tour needs, I will definitely choose Viator as a booking site as promised, prompt and professional. P.S. If you can get Andre for your guide you are in for a treat!

We had Andre as our guide for both portions of the tour. We enjoyed both potions of our tour. Not only was Andre informative - he has a tremendous sense of humour. While there were headsets for the Pompeii portion of the trip - at times it was difficult to make out what Andre was saying. Driver nice
