It is always fascinating to wonder thru ruins of Pompeii. The excavated ruins gives one a window of opportunity to see and understand a past civilization in the present day. But, to take it several steps further, one must also visit Herculaneum. The ruins are more complete, the mosaics are far more numerous and varied, and the wall murals are outstanding. The history ofHerculaneum is fascinating and well worth the time. This trip should not be missed.
The tour guide was exceptional. He spoke multiple languages and accommodated the linguistic needs of our group. The tours were informative, interesting and fun. The guide answered all questions, and was easy and fun to be around!
Really worth a visit. Pompeii was impressive, and our guide was good. The site was very big, so with the limited time we could only visit a small part of it, but our guide picked a variety of buildings so that we could see different aspects of people's lives. Herculaneum was a pleasant surprise, because more details were preserved there, and you would see things different from those in Pompeii, not just a repeat of it.
All of this tour screams quality and quantity. Quantity is in the extent of the tour not too many people n the group. No dramas professional passionate guides meet you on the main bus with years of experience. Then we split into groups based on your language. We had the male guide sorry name escapes me but his Naples birth place showed in his love for the city and Pompeii PS He is also an archaeologist and it showed. Don't miss this trip
A great but very full day. The guides were wonderful and made the day special.
While the crowds at pompeii were massive, our charming guide sarah did a good job of negotiating the milling throng on arrival at the site and during the tour and in explaining the functions and significance of the various rooms, roads and public spaces we saw.The lunch provided at pomeii was excellent and the tour team handled efficiently post- lunch the logistics of streaming the tour group into those going on to mount vesuvius, those returning to Naples and those who had elected to visit Herculaneum after pompeii. The Herculaneum visit, where there were only small crowd numbers ,was very informative and enjoyable. The hotel pick-up and set-down before and after the tour was also handled efficiently.Brava Sarah. Len Britton

i don't know which one impress me the most- Pompeii or Herculaneum. Take both...you'll learn so much.
If you have problems walking, plan accordingly as this has little hills, you will do a lot of walking throughout the cities...
Loved this tour, guide was very knowledgeable and took lots of time to explain the Pompeii ruins in the morning session. Lunch was included in a lovely restaurant close to The Hercullaneum which was excellent. We were the only ones of our morning trip to do Herculaneum in the afternoon so got a very tailored and extensive tour, with lots of time take to provide us with information and us to adk questions. All in all, a great trip, very well worth doing and getting out of Naples for te day.
It was good to take this tour to see the two different sites together. To see the vastness of Pompeii and the upscale homes of Herculeum was the best of both worlds. The lunch was very good, too. A highly recommended tour !
A fabulous day! This trip was for my wife's 70th birthday, and it is something she has wanted to do for many years. Pompeii was awesome, the guide was terrific, and was a fount of information. He was also our guide at Herculaneum, and again was so entertaining and informative. Herculaneum was much smaller, but gave a much better idea of how the people lived. The city was incredibly well preserved, making it easy to picture the lives of the inhabitants.
This tour was amazing and I would highly recommend it! The tour guide was great explaining things on the bus as we went as well as very knowledgable in both of the locations. Going to Herculaneum is a must, I preferred it over Pompeii. Pompeii was more of a tourist site and was very packed so we weren't able to go all through it. Herculaneum was less busy and more well preserved making it easier to imagine what it was like.
Excellent organisation for this trip with Viator and Naples City Vision. Everything ran smoothly was extremely enjoyable. Guides demonstrated superb historical knowledge of both sites Pompeii and Herculaneium. Lunch included was absolutely fabulous! and ok for vegetarians/fish eaters. Wouldn't hesitate to use both companies again when in Naples. Don't do Pomepii without Hercalaneum, if you have time. Very good value for money.

Had a great time on this trip. Van/Bus was very punctual in picking us up near our hotel. Guide was very informative and gave lots of great info at both Pompeii and Herculaneum. Wish we had more time at both places but still had a lot of fun. The lunch at the restaurant in Pompeii was surprisingly very good even for a set menu.
Upon arrival in Pompeii, we were escorted to a Cameo Factory to learn how they are made and obviously guided into the shop. A great tour in Pompeii and our guide was fantastic, very knowledgeable. Thankfully our group was quite small, which I have found to be better in my many trips with Viatour. Lunch was included and then just four of us went on to Herculaneum, which we found to be so much better than Pompeii. A lot more to see and not so big. As we arrived early afternoon, it was quiet with no large groups of tourists, who all seemed to be arriving when our tour was over. I would not recommend this tour for anyone who has difficulty walking, otherwise a great day.
Our guide was an archaeologist who did a wonderful job at both Pompeii and Hurculaneum. He has a great style in bringing the history in contemporary terms that helped the info really stick with you, and used good humor at times to help with that. In Herculaneum there were only six of us in the tour group with him so it was very personalized. Extremely professional and informative, and he tolerated some of us lagging to take pictures of this amazing history. Thanks.
Pompeii by itself is a must - bigger than the Roman forum with more to see and with a tour guide who knows the ins and outs it's both fun and educational. With Herculaneum it completes the whole tour package - smaller site but more detail and definitely get more intimate with how the Roman's lived.
always wanted to do this . the guide was great . Lunch was included , great choices , The visit to the cameo I thought was a bit rushed . I could have bought heaps more . Lots of walking so strong shoes , but I managed and I had climbed Mt Versuvus the day before .
Watch your wallet, got robbed 2 days later in Florence
