Our guide was an archaeologist who did a wonderful job at both Pompeii and Hurculaneum. He has a great style in bringing the history in contemporary terms that helped the info really stick with you, and used good humor at times to help with that. In Herculaneum there were only six of us in the tour group with him so it was very personalized. Extremely professional and informative, and he tolerated some of us lagging to take pictures of this amazing history. Thanks.
Pompeii by itself is a must - bigger than the Roman forum with more to see and with a tour guide who knows the ins and outs it's both fun and educational. With Herculaneum it completes the whole tour package - smaller site but more detail and definitely get more intimate with how the Roman's lived.
always wanted to do this . the guide was great . Lunch was included , great choices , The visit to the cameo I thought was a bit rushed . I could have bought heaps more . Lots of walking so strong shoes , but I managed and I had climbed Mt Versuvus the day before .
Watch your wallet, got robbed 2 days later in Florence
An excellent trip notwithstanding torrential rain in Herculaneum. Our guide Stephania was genuinely omniscient and very personable to boot. Fascinating but too short !
This is a great tour, highly recommended. Even through a little rain Pompeii is amazing! We've been to many ancient sites and this is right up with the best of them. The tour takes about 2 hours and delivers all the most important things to see. Lots of the group weren't going on to Herculaneum which is a pity. Although only 20 of Herculaneum has been uncovered it is an incredible example of a Roman holiday city. Just fabulous, don't do one without the other.
All day tour to both places is well worth it. Starting at Pompeii, we were able to go into a coral sales room. There are some really beautiful pieces of jewelry here and a wide price range so there is something for everyone. Next Pompeii was toured. You really have to use your imagination for a lot of the ruins. Of the two locations, this is the largest but most destroyed by Vesuvius. The brothel area was most interesting as well as the sauna room and how it was heated. Lunch was provided and the choices were delicious. Herculaneum was our next stop and while it is much smaller, it is far more preserved. Again, our guide was fabulous and knew not just the history but the interesting stories that went with it. I think we enjoyed Herculaneum more since we could actually see how the people lived at that time. Great tour.
My husband and I had a great day out, exploring both cities. Our guide was very informative and helpful. Our lunch stop off was great, the quality of food was very good! Would highly recommend this tour!
An awesome day was had by my wife and I at Pompeii and Herculaneum, despite the humidity. Our guide in Pompeii was professional, knowledgeable and so friendly!! ( sorry I don and #39;t have her name but she was great.....had a lime umbrella!!)
The audio Guide programme in Herculaneum was great.
Pompeii was brought to life by our guide Stephania - and lived up to expectations.
Herculaneum was another step up - and with the same guide we saw and heard so much more than we could have expected.
A must do for anyone with real interest.
Our guide was very good as she had great expression and passion about the life and death at that time.
This was a fantastic trip and we enjoyed every minute. The guide sorry but never found out her name! really knew her stuff and was attentive and courteous. The lunch was lovely in a nice restaurant. We would thoroughly this tour.
The trip was fantastic! Lucia was our guide for the am and the pm. She was knowledgeable about both sites.
Our guide Lucia was great, it was in August so very hot and she managed to keep us all on track. She was very informative would do it again.
Guide for Pompeii was very knowledgable and informative, lunch was great, disappointed in the Herculaneum visit. The site itself was impressive but not having anyone to talk about the history and discovery, etc. was disappointing.
This was a great tour.We learned so much about Pompeii and Herculaneum, especially as we has a fantastic tour guide called Steph who really made the day enjoyable.
What a memorable day trip. You actually go back in time and can envision life before the 79a.d. eruption. Everything I learned I brought back to my classroom and shared that knowledge with my students. I highly recommend this trip!

This was an amazing day of history and archeology. It's a must do while in Naples. Lunch was yummy!
We were most impressed with the amount of excavation done, and the state of preservation of the ruins. The tour was very informative, especially the bits about the lives of ordinary citizens and nobles /politicians at that era in Italy. Herculaneum was even better preserved than Pompeii. Lunchgr8
Excellent day out, tour guide was very informative and knowledgeable ,lunch was good and lots of time to take photos.
Our guides, Lucia and Anna, were very knowledgeable and friendly and spoke English quite well. The tour gave many interesting facts about the ruins and about life in Pompeii and Herculaneum. The bus ride was comfortable, and the mid-day lunch in a large, pleasant restaurant was ample and tasty. If you're visiting in mid-summer, bring sunglasses, umbrella, fan, and plenty of bottled water, because it's HOT and there is little shade.
Breathtaking! To walk streets and to go in to buildings that people were in thousands of years ago is something you just can't comprehend. Guides were great and definitely worth a day trip.
