What You Can Expect

Pompeii and Sorrento Day Trip from Naples

Statue at Pompeii

Meet your guide at your Naples hotel and hop aboard your luxury coach for the journey to Pompeii. As you go, hear about the fateful day in 79 AD when Mt Vesuvius violently erupted, burying the whole of Pompeii and its residents. Pass the mighty volcano along the drive, still active to this day.

Arrive at the ruins of Pompeii and follow your guide past the archaeological site's top attractions. See the Thermal Baths, the Lupanare brothel and the Forum, the former civic center that helped the city thrive prior to its destruction.

Afterward, refuel with a true Italian pie at a local pizzeria before heading to Sorrento. There, enjoy a walking tour past the beaches of Seiano and Vico Equense, and through the streets full of stores and quaint workshops. Pause in Meta di Sorrento for panoramic views of the bay and the Mediterranean.

Conclude your trip with a stop at Villa Comunale, one of the most scenic places in Sorrento, where you can see as far as Punta Campanella and the island of Capri. Soak up the last of the view before returning to your hotel in Naples.

Excellent tour with an amazing tour guide! Learned so much about both Pompeii and Sorrento. The stop at the Limoncello factory was a great treat as we discovered meloncello. What a great day!

Loved this! Was a bit confusing when splitting up the groups with who was going where, that could have been done much better. But the experience was great.

One of the best tours I've had in Italy. Despite the heat and members of our tour group disappearing around Pompeii every so often, our tour guide kept her cool albeit sometimes better than others and managed to complete the tour on time without us having to rush or skip out on seeing anything. The one bit of advice I have is about the Sorrento bit: the roads are small, windy mountain roads so if you have a ship or train to catch, add an extra hour to the ETA to allow for the slowness with which your brilliant bus driver can navigate the bus through those roads. truly brilliant - I have no idea how he managed to maneuver a 20-something seater bus along those roads!

We had a very knowledgeable guide for Pompeii. It was very interesting, well paced and a good sized group. Afterwards, we enjoyed pizza and beer at a nearby resturant. The pizza was perhaps my least favorite of the trip but we were with good company and new friends made during the excursion. A little more time in the market area would have been nice. Only four of us continued on to Sorento - home of limoncello. It was a fun winding road ride and the driver stopped for some photo ops. Had the best lemoncello ever and again would have loved to have had more time. So much to see , so much to enjoy just never enough time to absorb it all.

This was an excellent tour. Pompeii is amazing but both parts of the tour deserve much more than just a few hours. Sorrento is lovely. The bus ride was quite comfortable, the tour well organized and both the bus driver and tour guide were quite accommodating. I informed the tour leader in advance that I would have luggage with me and that I would be staying at Sorrento. They were quite kind and assisted me at the drop off point.
