Despite the fact we had rainy weather, the tour was still great. It was helpful having a professional guide for Pompeii and Herculaneum. We climbed Mt. Vesuvius despite the ominous black clouds reminiscent of Mordor. It is a fair trek, thinner air so it can be taxing for those with respiratory/cardiac or mobility issues. Even though we didn't really see much at the top, due to clouds, it was still enjoyable to do.
Amazing tour, highly recommended! Celestine, our tour guide and Antonino, our driver we hope we spelled the names right were great - professional, kind, friendly and happy to share a lot of information at every stage of the tour and to make sure our personal interest and pace was respected. They both really love their job and Italian history and life and are happy to share : Amazing hospitality and professionalism, we highly recommend this tour! If you want to see Pompei and Herculaneum and climb the Vesuvius in one day, but still have a comfortable, personal experience at your own pace, don't hesitate to book this tour, it will exceed your expectations! Grazie mille Celest and Antonino! :
Our driver, Tony, and guide, Lucia, were fantastic. Unfortunately we were unable to do the Mt Vesuvius climb due to the track being closed because of snow. However, Tony suggested a couple of different options and we decided on visiting the Royal Palace of Caserta which was amazing in itself. Lucia went with us to Herculaneum and then to Pompeii. Both sites were extremely interesting and easily visited in the one day with a guide who knows what are the must see things. We would definitely recommend this tour and getting the guide is definitely worth the extra money. We visited in early December and neither site was particularly crowded. In fact at Herculaneum we were the first ones to enter for the day.
We had a very enjoyable day with Toni and would recommend him highly as a wonderful helpful friendly guide
Visiting Pompeii and Herculean is a must. Both towns are different and amazing to walk through. Our visit to Mt Vesuvius was worth the effort. It is a steep walk to the crater rim, so a little fitness is required, but highly recommended. Using a private van to get our group of 4 around proved to be a very comfortable way of visiting all the sites. Our driver was excellent and good company during our travels.
Our driver and guide were very good. The Mt Versuvius portion was not necessary.
This was an absolutely wonderful tour! A visit to Pompeii was on my bucket list and I'm so glad we chose this tour. Toni from A Drive Into the Blue was our driver and Antonella was our guide for Pompeii and Herculaneum. Both Toni and Antonella were friendly and professional and very knowledgeable. They make a great team! Toni went above and beyond, buying us coffee and pastries. Additionally, he made reservations for us at a very lovely restaurant for lunch. Pompeii and Herculaneum were incredible to see and the view from Mt. Vesuvius was breathtaking! Antonella was very entertaining and really brought history to life. Finally, as we had some extra time before we had to return to the cruise ship, Toni drove us into Naples to show us some of the beautiful sites of the city. It was well worth the price of the private tour! I would definitely book a tour with A Drive Into the Blue again.
We had a beautiful trip. Our day started by meeting with our driver Sergio who is a great gentleman, great driver and always looking for us to have a great experience. I really recommend him as a driver. Our tour guide Lucia was exceptionally knowledgeable and passionate about the history and she navigated us so well through all the tour people that we never felt overwhelmed by tons of tourists which believe me it is a big thing to do. We really recommend this service all the details were send it fast, clear and professional. You can expect good English spoken level, Spanish and Italian or course.
This private tour with Antonino was outstanding. He took great care to be sure my daughter and I had the best experience, stopping wherever we wanted along the way, and taking us to places he felt we would enjoy, including his friend's roadside fruit stand to enjoy one of the delicacies of the Napoli while taking in the breathtaking coastline. He chooses the best restaurants that give a local experience of the food and culture, and wants to know if it was the best if not he makes sure to find a better place for his next guests. Spending the day with him was relaxing and easeful. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the history and culture of Naples, Pompeii, Herculaneum, the Amalfi Coast, and makes it his business to know about every place visitors would want to go, and where he himself would like to go. The sites themselves are incredible. It's amazing to be in the places we had only seen in history books, and to have such a personal experience, made possible through Viator and Antonino. If we go to Naples again, we will ask for him personally, so we know we'll have an exceptional experience. Thank you Antonino!
This was the highlight of our two-week vacation around Italy. Antonella was fantastic. So knowledgeable and really engaged our family and our kids. Could not imagine a better tourguide. Michael was an amazing driver. So nice and very talkative and engaging. This tour was all about our family and very personalized. My only complaint is the timing. It is a lot to do within 8-hours and with kids. They needed to stop and rest and have some food and that is not really built into the 8 hours, and we had to pay extra to see vesuvius since the tour time ran out. Which we did, and that is no fault of the tour guides, but the timing. Needs to be priced and timed to allow for bathroom and food breaks.
