Why Our Insiders Chose This Tour

What You Can Expect

Private Custom Tour of Delhi

Red Fort

After hotel pickup in Delhi prior to 9am, hop inside a private, air-condition vehicle with a driver and guide and travel between your chosen six sites from the 16 available. When selecting your sites, be aware that opening hours and distances may affect your itinerary. As you travel, hear about Delhi’s history from your guide, and enjoy guided visits to each site if you wish.

Perhaps start at the UNESCO-protected Red Fort, a huge 1638 red sandstone complex built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Explore the fort’s buildings, with the opportunity to visit nearby Jama Masjid, a vast 17th-century mosque capable of holding 25,000 worshipers.

If you wish, visit more of Delhi's UNESCO-listed treasures, such as the 236-foot (72-meter) Qutub Minar tower and Humayun’s Tomb. Admire this stunning 16th-century mausoleum for Mughal Emperor Humayun and learn how it inspired the design of the Taj Mahal. Other historical points of interest include the 18th-century Safdarjung’s Tomb and the medieval fort of Purana Qila.

For modern history, meanwhile, you may want to see two sites associated with India’s revered independence leader, Mahatma Gandhi. View Gandhi Smriti, where he was assassinated in 1948, and Raj Ghat, his cremation site.

Alternatively, stick to a religious theme and view Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, a white-marble Sikh temple, or the extraordinary Lotus Temple, a modern Bahai temple shaped like a lotus flower.

If you fancy slowing the pace, perhaps stretch your legs around the tomb-dotted Lodhi Gardens or the ruins of the Mehrauli Archaeological Park.

Alternatively, delve into Hauz Khas Village, an arty shopping enclave within a deer park, or the National Zoological Park, formerly Delhi Zoo.

Explore finishing with shopping at Dilli Haat; a government-authorized bazaar of traditional Indian handicrafts. Or enjoy some retail therapy at Connaught Place or Janpath Market, two popular shopping haunts.

Your tour finishes with a hotel drop-off.

5 star rating: Highly Recommended November 2017

One of the most convenient, and enjoyable ways to have a quick glance into Delhi. The places we picked were amazing and our guide was fabulous unfortunately I lost the piece of paper with his name on it. He was full of so much knowledge, and had a real passion for the places he showed us. The car accommodation was very well looked after, the driver was fabulous, and we have so many memories from this trip. Highly recommend.

Driver and guide did a great job. Took us to a few extra places so that we could at least take some pictures of the outside.

This is an excellent way to spend a day in Delhi, since you get to choose what you want to see. We picked six monuments and enjoyed every one. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful in addition, because trying to park in Delhi is almost impossible, there is a driver. You are dropped off for lunch at a restaurant where it seems like every other tourist in the city is dropped off--nothing exceptional, but a safe choice. Because the traffic in Delhi is so bad, moving around to see six different attractions makes this a full day adventure.

Very flexible in organizing the tour and allowing you to customize the sites to visit. Very interesting sites with a lot of historical information.

2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better October 2016

The tour looked very interesting and the fact that you could custom made it was really good! However, we didn't like the fact that our guide Mr. Harry excluded places we have chosen without even asking us or at least replacing with something else. Be also aware that if they take you to a shop they get commission on the things you buy this we were informed later, after he took us a big shop whereas we just wanted to go to Hauz khans village and stroll around to different shops.

1 star rating: I do not recommend this March 2017

This tour was quite misleading - as some of the listed choices were not suitable for day visits eg Hauzkaas is a clubbing district, with nothing to see in the day. This is a Viator complaint nothing to do with local provider. The guide did help us with that and suggested alternatives... and in fact said we could tailor the day to anywhere we like - most of which were great. However one of those alternatives was a trip to his friend selling Kashmir carpets for several thousand pounds. We were led into a room under the ruse of visiting 'an interesting higher quality market' - only to find it was a timeshare style lock-in sales pitch. Very annoying and and time wasting and we were not impressed.
Another Viator issue - grossly overpriced. Most of the options listed here were free entry or minimal charge - and the travel cost is nothing in Delhi - so again massively inflated rip off for tourists, to line Viator's already heavy pockets.
