What You Can Expect

After early pickup from your Delhi hotel or Delhi airport, journey to Agra by private, air-conditioned vehicle.

After about three hours, arrive in bustling Agra, and meet your local guide at the UNESCO-listed Taj Mahal. Head through the entrance (own expense), and marvel at the mirage-like, white marble monument before walking through the gardens to view the intricately marble arcades, inner hall, and terraces close-up.

As you explore, hear the poignant story behind the building. Built by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan, as a mausoleum for his beloved queen, Mumtaz Mahal, the Taj took 20,000 workers 22 years to complete between 1630 and 1652.

After your 1.5-hour tour and lunch at a local restaurant, continue to Agra’s Red Fort, another UNESCO-listed gem. Go inside (own expense) the immense, walled fort, commissioned in 1565 by the Emperor Akbar, and explore the palaces, courtyards and halls, including the tower where Shah Jahan was imprisoned by his son, within sight of his beloved Taj Mahal.

Having explored here, enjoy time to scout out gifts at one of Agra’s many souvenir shops before returning to Delhi, where your trip ends at the original start point.

The driver, Mr .Kumar and the Agra guide, Sunny, were professional and courteous. The guide, Sunny, is super! Very experienced, knowledgeable and enthusiastic, he offered a well-paced and interesting mix of history and anecdotes. He clearly loves his job. Sunny is a cheerful and outgoing personality and a delight to spend the day with. But what made Sunny stand out from other guides is his unflagging attentiveness to our needs and our safety throughout the entire day, from answering our questions, to showing us the best photo angles, to lingering over photo ops to pointing out a crooked step to avoid, to politely shooing away hawkers. We felt very safe and well taken care of. Overall, it was a fun day in an unforgettable setting!

3 star rating: Worth doing January 2016

Tour guide was brilliant for getting us into all the right photo spots and queued up amongst the crowds to ensure we got that souvenir shot however did seem a little preoccupied with the photography rather than telling us information about the building..
Could not fault the car or the driver - as two single females travelling from Delhi we felt very safe and comfortable in his company.

2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better February 2016

Visiting the Taj Mahal was a great experience. The journey would be better by train than by car, small vehicle, bit cramped and extremely noisy. Delhi is dirty, polluted and dusty. Visitors should be advised to wear a face mask for their protection. Many over zealous helpful persons trying to rip you off as foreigner always be prepared to bargain.
Would not do this again.
