Great time. Took our pre-teen boys and they really loved the airboat swamp tour. The plantations we visited were good. nice we got to see 2 of them with quite a contrast oak alley and laura plantation. Highly recommended tour!
Great tour! Our lead tour guide was Joseph - wow is he a fount of information! He really knows his stuff! Be aware if going on the swamp tour in November - or any of the cooler months - you won't see alligators or turtles. But, you will be out on the water and learn a lot of interesting facts about the local area and the wildlife. The tour of the two plantations are very well done - guides are extremely knowledgeable and informed. Extremely interesting history. The lunch they provide at Oak Alley is quite good. Salad, soups, red beans and rice, smoked sausage, baked chicken, corn, peas, bread and butter, and for dessert, cheesecake and bread pudding. There is a cash bar where you can order cocktails, or iced tea, lemonade and coffee are offered complimentary with lunch. There is a great gift shop at Oak Alley and also at Laura where you can get some neat items. I highly recommend this tour!
The tour guide was very informative and accommodating. It was a good trip.
David was fantastic, friendly tour guide with tons of interesting tidbits of trivia and info to share along the way our journey to each of the plantations. The airboat ride through the bayou swamp was a hilarious hoot with Captain Gary at the helm. We had a memorable visit to Louisiana, and this tour was one of the highlights, well worth the effort and time.
Fun day for the family. We love the fact that we were picked up from our hotel. We were able to see one Alligator, my boys (12 and 9) loved it.We were able to see lots of birds as well. Lunch was delicious! Lots of local treats. It is very interesting to see two unique plantations. Learned lots!
The tour was wonderful!!! Comfortable vehicle, a great tour guide- Allan, full of knowledge and patience. The sights were beautiful and interesting and the meal was very good. We had a lovely day and I highly recommend.
This is a great day tour, our tour guide was very entertaining. Laura plantation is so rich in history, Oak Valley is absolutely beautiful. Lunch served at Oak valley was delicious and definitely recommend it. We did not get to see many gators in the swamp but the views are worth it.
Swamp tour was brilliant, great guide, the plantations were very informative and great scenery.
Excellent tour. Muriel was our guide and she has got a very good knowledge of the region and history of Cajun. She explained a lot of different things on the way to the swamp boat tour. I was on my own so this tour was perfect for me. The little bus was very comfortable. The small group size is ideal for this type of tour. The food at the Plantation was very nice. The 2 plantations are complementary as they are very different to each others. I would have liked to spend a bit more time on the Oak Valley plantation to spend more time on the slave exhibition. I felt I had to follow the group willing to move on to the other plantation.
It was interesting to see the Bayou and outside New Orleans. This is a must to do if you have a full day.
This was a great tour. So glad I booked it. Captain Mike was great, our tour guide and driver extraordinaire Kat was amazing. Loved the plantations. The oaks were so majestic and the bourbon twist was Devine. Laura plantations history was intriguing.
It was an amazing day spent learning about the fascinating history of the New Orleans area. The air boat tour was a blast, and the deep knowledge of the tour guide was really enlightening. Highly Recommended!
Awesome all day tour! Swamp Boat captain was lovely and definitely knew his stuff! The plantations were also a must see. Beautiful and historic. All in all, a really fun day!
Our tour guide Muriel was great. Throughout the tour she shared New Orleans and Louisiana history with our group that made the trip very rewarding -- adding a lot of context to the plantation tours. The swamp tour was enjoyable and a lot of fun -- seeing the bayou first-hand.
THE SWAMP BOAT AND TOUR OF PLANTATIONS EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS.THE TOUR GUIDES AND TOURS WERE OUTSTANDING.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS.

We had Muriel as our tour guide. She welcomed us aboard and thanked us for being on time...
Muriel gave us a history tour on the entire ride to all of the tours...she was very informative, and I found her unknowingly witty :
The first stop was the Torres Swamp Tour - Brian was our guide. He was great! Although we weren't able to see any gators in the bayou, the tour was amazingly beautiful
We then went to Oak Alley Plantation, had a delicious lunch of gumbo, crawfish-something, red beans and rice - for dessert I had the buttermilk pie - YUM!
The house is beautiful, but its the view from the second floor balcony that is breathtaking... don't expect to hear history of the plantation - it's all about the house.
We then ventured over to Laura Plantation... if there is only one Plantation you see, make sure its this one! Stephen was our guide - he was fantastic! He gave us history of the home as well as the people and the lives they lived there...
Overall: Awesome. And if you can, ask for Muriel - I found her to be a hot ticket!
Loved the entire day! It was informative and fun, too! The lunch was yummy! I would suggest packing a little snack because sometimes your lunch is later if the schedule is rearranged. Would recommend it to anyone and would definitely take another tour with this company if I were returning to NOLA.
This was a great day out and a fantastic way to see Cajun Country. I would recommend the Swamp Boat adventure as a must as this was the highlight of the day!
I would highly recommend this tour to everyone, you really get a feel for the southern life style in this time period. It was hard for me to believe that the slaves were treated so inhumanly! Both plantations are so different but both guides were very informative and gracious. Even tho we did not see any wildlife, we got alot of knowledge into bayou life.
Our tour started with a stop at Torres Swamp Tours. Brian, our captain, was very informative. We were able to see a baby alligator but due to the high water, sightings have been rare. We then had lunch and toured Oak Alley Plantation. Lunch was delicious! We had about 40 minutes to walk around the grounds on our own. We then took the tour of the house We were part of a large group but they allowed us to take our time so nothing was missed. We toured the house and grounds of Laura Plantation as our final stop. The entire tour was guided. Once again we were part of a large group.
This was my best decision! The plantations transported us to a place difficult to reconcile, yet important to absorb. The high speed air boat ride was both exhilarating and informational. Our guides all day were highly intelligent and passionate about their part in the whole experience. Fabulous. I can't stop thinking about it.
Fun for the whole family, and the lunch was some of the best food we had in NO!
We did several different tours during our recent trip. As always, these tours are only as good or bad as the guide assigned to you. Our day was fantastic. The swamp tour was beautiful but we didn't see any gators at all. It was still a nice start. The next stop was Oak Alley plantation, which was absolutely stunning to see. The alley of Oaks was in itself worth the drive as it is a stunning view. Finally we went to Laura plantation, which is a Creole plantation and VERY different from Oak Alley. The tour guide that was assigned to us there was awesome and you could tell that the plantation put a lot of thought into their presentations. There was a logical progression through the tour that really was great. I think the tour at Laura Plantation was the highlight of the day. Doing two such different types of Plantations back to back was a great contrast and we loved it. Further, as it was an hour drive to reach the plantations, it made a big difference that our driver was outstanding. He literally talked for the entirety of the drives with interesting information on tons of topics regarding the plantations, life in New Orleans, the city, a little of everything. Further, he was took us on the drive past a bunch of other plantations that we were not touring some that you can't tour as well and gave a brief history on each, including telling us which movies each was featured in, etc. Without question, this day was the best tour of our trip. I highly recommend spending the money and time to do the swamp/Oak Alley/Laura Plantation tours. They really were great.
