Loved every part of this tour. Easy pick up from our hotel in the French quarter. The ride was great and great driver. Our tour guide on the boat was Tony. He was very well educated on the swamp and wildlife. The swamp was more beautiful then I thought it would be. Very relaxing.
Great tour! Saw lots of turtles sunning themselves on the river, alligators, swamp pigs, raccoons and huge Great Herons! Tour guide was very informative of the wildlife as well as the natural surroundings. Just the ride on the flat bottom tour boat was fun in and of itself, but seeing all the animals and hearing about the history of this area was cool too. Van driver who picked us up from hotel was very informative of the area and provided lots of interesting information. Thank you!
Great! We really enjoyed it. Picked up from our hotel on time and started to learn about our surroundings from the driver straight away as we traveled to Slidell. We were fortunate as the weather was beautiful and we saw lots of alligators, turtles, some wild boar. Well informed guide/driver, very interesting and beautiful scenery - much better than the term "swamp" suggests.
This was an awesome experience that exceeded my expectations! We were visiting New Orleans with another couple and everyone had a great time. The driver picked us up in front of our hotel, and called when he was close to let us know he was arriving. Driver was Mario, and he was helpful on providing some background information about the Honey Island Swamp Tour as well as good places to eat around New Orleans. We enjoyed talking with him on the approximately 40 minute drive to Slidell. Once we arrived we did not wait long to begin the boat tour. Our tour guide was Captain Hunter and he was excellent! His knowledge, boating skills and humor kept us entertained and engaged during the tour. We were very fortunate in that it had rained earlier, and the weather was ideal went we began the tour. We saw many alligators, 3-4 foot gators that came right up to the boat. We also saw many snakes and slider turtles, raccoons, ospreys, and a feral hog. We had a great time and I would highly recommend this tour for everyone. I would love to take the tour again when we come back to New Orleans and hopefully we can sail again with Captain Hunter!
Captain Tony did a spectacular job! He managed to show us alligators, wild pigs (boars), raccoons, blue herons, turtles, snakes, egrets, ducks, and even an osprey nest! I would love to go back again and again and again1
This is great group! Everything was very organized. Both tour guides, bus driver from hotel to swamp and boat guide were very friendly and knowledgeable. We even got to see multiple alligators. Highly recommend!
Even in a thunderstorm the beauty of the bayou was worth the cold wet ride. The guide was knowledgeable, and even spoke “gator” which attracted a gator to come and visit the boat for a hot dog. For someone who has never seen a bayou, it was pretty spectacular
I do wish the rain policy/ cancellation was easier to find There was thunder and lightening so I was very unsure if it would cancelled.
We included pick up from New Orleans French qtr. about 45 min ride. Very enjoyable, got to see alligators, wild pigs, various birds, snakes and lots of turtles! Beautiful scenery with many great picture opportunities! Would be great for families with kids!
