Exceeded my expectations. I would recommend to everyone I know.
I learned the reality of the destruction caused by Katrina and the amazing rebuild.
This tour is a must for anyone wanting to understand the effect of Hurricane Katrina on the City of New Orleans and also to understand how the Army Corp of Engineers blundered in their estimate of the levee's. Our guide was Daniel and he lived through it and was most passionate about Katrina and his City. The stop at the Katrina Memorial is sad but a wonderful way to remember the ones that lost their lives and for 3 years could not be identified.
This tour was very instructive in comparing what the U.S. Congress did for New York when Wall Street was destroyed on 9/11 with when New Orleans was flooded by Army Corps incompetence and thousands of poor blacks lost their lives and homes while the French Quarter was spared. It seems that most non-thinking Americans believe that George Bush did us a favor getting us into the longest war in American history without raising taxes to pay for it, while spending one-millionth the amount to rebuild New Orleans WITHOUT poor black people - so Americans can have a nicer time in the French Quarter !
I will always remember our tour guide, she was incredible...to give such a detailed account of the events that took place in 2005 and adding her own story. Very informative and educating..for all those who are not just interested in 'having fun' in Nola.
This was one of the best tours we have ever taken. The guide was born and grew up in New Orleans. He was a reporter for 40 years and covered Hurricane Katrina and its recovery. We stopped a couple of times - once for a restroom break. The bus was air-conditioned. Great value. We highly recommend.
The guide was great and told us so much about the areas that were hit extremely hard. It was a I have a fondness for New Orleans, so when Katrina hit I was glued to the TV watching and learning about it. The guide actually gave us so much more information of events during the hurricane and after. Highly recommend it.
Great tour, very informative. The best and most interesting thing we did while in New Orleans!
Very informative trip led by a knowlegeable guide who was passionate about the city and who shared his lived experiences generously.
This tour was informative and educational. We learned about the reasons for the floods initiated by Hurricane Katrina. It was sad driving through all the affected neighborhoods and remembering what we watched on TV. Now we were there.
Our guide was John. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. Although the tour was introspective, John was able to interject humor at appropriate times. Those moments were appreciated.
Our driver was cautious and professional.
Midway through the tour we stopped for a break. Some passengers opted to tour the sculpture garden, others chose the very fast coffee shop and bathroom.
This tour offers so much more than a typical city tour. It shows you history.
Bruce Nolan, former newspaper reporter, did an excellent job of telling us what that experience was like and showing us what measures are being taken to avoid another such disaster. This was well worth the time and money.
Excellent tour and guide. Great information and understanding of the plight New Orleans went through. Encouraging to note it was a learning experience and they're much more prepared now. Don't miss this tour folks
The tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. It helped me learn why this disaster happened and the experiences of the guide and driver added to this tour.
George, our guide was very knowledgeable and personable. It was a very interesting tour of the city.
VERY EDUCATIONAL. Loved all the info the tour guide gave us. She was passionate about what she had to tell us and we learned from her personal experience. Learned what the TV news did not cover! it was important for the rest of the world to know who and how the levels were not built correctly. and how it is being done correctly today with the water pumps and 72 feet down for the new levees. Admire the tenacity of the people of New Orleans to rebuild. Everyone who goes to New orleqns should go on this tour. The detail was great.
So educational! My guide was the best! A lot you didn't see on the news! Super sad!!
Very good tour! Our tour guide is a former newspaper reporter and his information was 1st hand which really made the tour interesting.
Well informed passionate local woman giving objective analysis combined with first hand experience. Well structured and came away with a very good understanding of how the devastation occurred. Highly recommended.
Tour was very educational and emotional. To see the destruction and the path of the water was heart wrenching. To see so many houses still unoccupied and to hear the personal stories of those who were there was beyond description. Our guide was a former reporter that was there reporting the event as it unfolded, and to see him re-experience the events for us through his eyes was awesome. Thank you Stan for sharing your stories. I would highly recommend this tour to hear the rest of the story the news failed to share.
Tour was very interesting and informative. Tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and well spoken.
This is a must tour for anyone interested in this dark, sad chapter in New Orleans and U.S. history. Seeing the still blighted neighborhood of the lower 9th ward was simultaneously exhilarating and depressing, but definitely worth seeing. BTW, I have a new found respect for Brad Pitt after seeing the homes he's building there for people he doesn't know and might never even meet. Kudos to him for honoring a commitment he did not have to make.
