Our tour guide Randy made this a great tour. He had plenty of stories of current and previous owners, New Orleans and the history of the area. The houses are also gorgeous. The cemetery part was less interesting though Randy did do a great job with his stories. Marie Laveau's tomb is not here, nor Nicholas Cage's. Easy walk.

Tara was wonderful. She's a New Orleans native and had a great rapport with our group. She's an excellent listener, has a wonderful sense of humor, and knows her town really well. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour, even though the weather was cold!

I am usually not a guided tour person, but this was our first trip to New Orleans and my friends talked me into it. I’m so glad they did!! Our tour guide was HILARIOUS and even though it was freezing cold out, he kept things moving and had the best stories. Highly recommend!!

We really enjoyed this tour. Tara was a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. Loved the great homes we saw as well as the stop in Lafayette Cemetery. Great mix of history and sightseeing with a much needed bathroom/drink break. Definitely recommend this trip but wear good shoes and be careful on the sidewalks!

I took this tour with two teen aged girls and we all loved it! We went in October, so the temperature was quite nice and of course the Garden District is beautiful. Just be aware of uneven sidewalks and a few other tripping opportunities!

Stephen did a fantastic job on this super hot day. He was strategic in finding shady places for us to stop and talk, was full of historical knowledge on the tour stops and had relevant personal anecdotes to share as well. He talked about architectural details of the homes, how owners maintain them and how the houses function in present day, and knew where lots of famous residents lived. He was very patient in waiting for us to take pictures that we were happy with- not an easy feat when the beautiful homes are so huge! I loved that the tour was kept small- we passed a group of 12 and I can't see how such a big number would work well on a this tour. He also personally made sure we all knew what we were doing and where we were heading after the tour and thoroughly answered any questions we had. Bonus points for referencing The Sound of Music and Mary Poppins at the beginning!

I completely enjoyed this walking tour. Steve was our 'narrator' and was very well prepared. Steve gave a great overview of the tour before we started reviewing 'safety' guidelines - look up look down. No question was too simple for him to answer. He was patient in waiting for stragglers to catch up, the pace of the walk was very manageable for all participants. I also enjoyed the size of this tour. There were about 10 of us, and it was a great size. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to learn more about the Garden District as well as the Lafayette Cemetery.

Our tour of the Garden District was one of the highlights of our trip. Tara was an amazing guide and within minutes it was more like walking around with a friend rather than a stranger. we can't thank her enough for the memories

Marvelous overview of the history of New Orleans and the development of architectural styles and blending of cultures. Our guide, Steven, was very knowledgeable and had a very easy and natural manner of speaking and presenting information. Especially liked the factual information interspersed with humor and personalized details about the homes and their owners. The tour took about two hours and the balance of walking and standing with a short break to use restrooms and get refreshments was well paced. Highly recommend this tour.

This tour was fantastic and we had a great time. I really enjoyed the history of the Garden District and appreciated that we weren't in a seedy cemetery for the tour. If you have time while in town, this is a great way to spend a few hours :

This was a great tour. I went with my 20 year old son as part of a 4 day trip. I'm so glad we included a tour of the Garden District among our carefully selected activities - we learned so much about the history of the city, the plantation owners and other notable residents, all quite educational and informative. The homes and gardens themselves were gorgeous, and our tour guide Steve was quite knowledgable about their owners, past and present, and the changes in the area throughout the year. This tour was just the right length, with just the right amount of information to not be overwhelming but yet to round out our understanding of New Orleans. Definitely recommend!

We had a very knowledgeable tour guide. She had a lot of stories about New Orleans and its people. We visited on the 3rd week of Dec and it was a little quiet. We were the only ones on the tour so we were able to ask a lot of questions.

We thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent with Tara Schroeder. She was a warm and friendly New Orleans native with great historic knowledge weaved into interesting local folklore. All of the homes we passed were gorgeous with lush expansive lawns. Tara chose the most interesting homes to stop and share stories. We had time to take pictures and ask questions and laugh. The stroll through Lafayette Cemetery was enlightening and interesting as well. I would highly recommend Tara as a guide and hope to have the opportunity to use her again in the future.

Tara was an incredible guide. She knew the history of New Orleans in great detail and added so many unusual and interesting facts to our walk. We saw beautiful houses and Tara added great background information to each. The highlight was the cemetery tour..again with all the history, it was an educational and fun fun experience.

Very impressive tour. My tour guide was Tara, and I was very lucky to be toured exclusively by her with an one-to-one guide. We visited all of the stunning and beautiful mansions and gardens as listed. She was quite knowledgeable of the history of the houses, the story of the owners, and how did they made wealth at the early days. She was welcoming and good story teller with offering more than enough information to me. I got to know the shotgun house, the belief underneath the colors of the ceiling, movie of interview of the vampires and the writer of Anne Rice. Also, the gardens under the name of different families appealed to me very much. I felt very thankful for her and wanted to learn more about New Orleans.

Good tour! It was a highlight of my trip to see all of the stunning and beautiful mansions. Our guide was great with giving us all sorts of interesting information about the architecture and who lived in these homes. Plus, as a fan of American Horror Story I got to see the house where the third season was filmed! Highly recommended!
