We had fun on the bayou!

If you're trying to decide between an airboat and a pontoon, save yourself the worry and book the pontoon - especially if you're going in summer! I've done both and a pontoon is hands down the way to go - it's quieter, drier, and holds up in all weather. The day we went it happened to POUR - we had a fantastic time watching the sky give us a show under the cover of the pontoon - while the poor folk in the airboats looked like drowned rats. I think they may have even had to end their tour early because the lightning was close. We saw plenty of gators, birds, domestic cows on land, and other critters, and the pontoon ride was so pleasant and relaxing while the weather was clear. Once the weather got nuts, we had a blast! Our guide was hilarious and told the best stories mixed with a good amount of history, geography and climate discussion. And of course, we loved holding the baby alligator! Extra props to the tour company for good communication about the transportation - they were on time and our driver was a rockstar!

It started out with the sweetest woman picking us up at Crown Plaza. We got a mini city tour while we were on our way to the tour. The place was well run, the swamp boat tour guide was also terrific. We got to hear history & see so much. Lived watching the gators swim to the boat! Whole trip was great! Thanks!!

I liked that our tour included pick up from our hotel. There was a souvenir shop. It was easy to book the tour. Our tour guide was fun and found many alligators and herons. We had a good time even though it was raining.

Saw some young Alligators
SuziB, Sep 2022
We wee looking forward to this trip and even the poor weather wasn't dampening our spirits. Our captain seemed knowledgeable and manged to find a few alligators that were young alligators but with animals you cant guarantee you will see them. He enticed the alligators closer to the boat with the lure of a marshmallow which they loved meaning we got some great pics. Was good getting out to see a real Bayou/Swamp and some alligators. The reason for the low rating is at some point the captain brings out a baby alligator. A lot of people then start screaming and he passes this poor alligator round the boat for people to use as a photo prop. The couple before us actually dropped the poor thing and he was caught by his tail which must have been painful and I cant abide animal cruelty. The captain then took the alligator and tried to force me to hold it despite me telling him several times to get the poor animal out of my face and that it was animal cruelty. this is a wild animal that belongs in the wild. Not on boats being handed round and could bite someone then the s**t would hit the fan and the poor alligator would be the one to suffer. Really was not happy at all after that and it kind of ruined the whole experience for us.

Not the best, much Deception
Nancy_M, Sep 2022
It was not a swamp ride it was a bayou ride. Not bad but really alligators respond to the vibrations not ici ici. Touristy. Also marshmallows for gators, better to feed them their food. May cost a little more but really....also the guide solicited tips and held his handvout as we left, looking us in the eye!
Response from Host, Sep 2022
Thank you for your feedback, Nancy. You opted for the tour boat, which is the larger boat with outboard motors that has to stay in more open water. So, the tour takes you on the outskirts of the swamp, not just the bayou. The airboats are smaller boats that operate with a fan that can take you deeper into the marshland and give you a closer experience of the swamp. We do not feed the alligators, we only use marshmallows to draw them closer to the boat to give our guest a closer experience while they are consuming a light snack. It does not harm them or their habitat in any kind of way as they are the top predator in the swamp. As for the captain, we do not tolerate soliciting in any kind of way. We will further investigate the situation and make sure that it never happens again if it did. Once again, thank you for your feedback!
Swamp Tour Adventure
Rodney_B, Sep 2022
We had a great experience with Louisiana Swamp tours. Captain Ryan was our guide and he was quite the narrator! He was born and raised in the area, so he was well versed in the local flora and fauna. The high points of the experience: - Tour boat was clean and orderly - Check in experience was great - Two hours was just the right amount for the trip - The shuttle to and from our hotel (downtown New Orleans) was very convenient. - Price was competitive. I highly recommend taking one these tours. Definitely worthwhile to experience the bayou and marsh areas.

Just a great way to spend...
marc_m, Sep 2022
Just a great way to spend a few hours, boats are comfortable and captains are knowledgeable. You also get to feed alligators in the wild for great photo ops and you get to hold baby alligators.
