Both parts of the tour are fantastic! The plantation was interesting and highly informative and our guide was wonderful. The swamp tour was one of the highlights of the trip! So much wildlife and our guide was such an expert! Highly recommend this tour! Be forewarned that the afternoon tour can run into some traffic returning to the French Quarter so plan for a 7:30 return just to be safe!
I loved it! The guides were amazing with lots of stories and real insight of the life of people who lived on the plantation and the swamp.
Great boat trip, very knowledgeable guide, full of interesting facts.
Plantation house tour informative.
Plantations and Bayous, 2 of the must-see and do experiences in New Orleans. This tour delivered these in spades. Plenty of sights and history and especially hands-on when we had the chance to hold a baby alligator on the swamp ride. Not to be missed tour.
Very interesting ride. It was a little warm but our guide was great!
Southern Plantation Tour guide, Frank, was very informative he provided quite a bit of history and he was dressed for the part! The Swamp Boat Ride with Capt. Brandon, was also very educational and entertaining. Capt. Brandon engaged the entire group and made it interactive.
It was fun and informative. We had a wonderful time - especially on the swamp tour, seeing the wildlife and feeding the alligators! The boat captain was very knowledgeable and entertaining.
This trip was awesome, the swamp tour was the best.... The captain was very funny and interesting.
Great day trip! Lots of history on New Orleans and Louisiana. The plantation was interesting, probably not one of the best ones out there, but the swamp boat tour was fantastic! Guide was superb, really engaging and very knowledgeable on all the wildlife you see in the swamp. Plus, its the home base of Mugsy, the alligator slapping cat!
Great tour, very knowledgeable and friendly guide. The swamp tour is a whole lot of fun.
Stacy was extremely knowledgeable and interesting. I would recommend this trip if you want more out of New Orleans than Bourbon street! It was an added bonus.
Plenty to see both at the plantation and at the swamp boat ride. Note that although the tour description talks about unprogrammed time to walk around both locations, there really isn't much of that - you're mostly in the scripted part of the tour, with relatively little spare time. Make sure to try the alligator sausage at the swamp boat ride!
Very good review. The plantation was interesting and near the city. I wish they would have showed us more original items from the actual plantation. The swamp tour was great too. Very fun and very interactive.
While in NOL I went on two swamp tours. This one was the best by far. On this trip we were on a preserve verses public lands and there was much more wildlife to see on this tour. We saw alligators that came onto the boat's platform, a raccoon, fish, birds, and turtles. Best trip by far!
The plantation tour was lovely and covered a great deal of history. I personally felt it was too short. The swamp boat portion was absolutely wonderful! The river guide,Nolan, was hysterical!! He had many stories to go along with his intimate knowledge of the swamp. Would definitely do this again!
this was my best excursion in new orleans, guide was knowlwdgable and extrememly helpful while still being fun and friendly, plantation was interesting guide there was quite good and blacksmith demo was fun,our swamp guide was great, though cold and rainy weather limited alligators to a mere 8 or 9,grandkids loved the trip swamp was their highlight
The tour was fantastic, the tour went through a tour company in New Orleans. John was our guide and his knowledge was awesome, it was nice to learn about the Plantation and our tour guide was great. The swamp was equally as enjoyable and educational.
Great tour with very informative guide. Liked both places and was better finishing with the swamp tour as was perfect way to end the day.

Plantation tour was a bit corny, would love to know more about the slaves' side of the story. Swamp tour was fantastic, a great afternoon!
This was the highlight of our trip to New Orleans! We didn't have enough time at the Destrehan Plantation, and, very curiously, our guide barely mentioned slave life there, but the ride on the swampboat was everything I had expected. So many alligators! We were even able to hold a baby alligator whose snout had been taped shut. The swamp itself (Manchuk) is incredibly beautiful; we were lucky to have good weather, warm, with a breeze blowing. I could have stayed there for hours, watching for wildlife, taking in the beauty of the swamp. I loved this tour!
The tour really starts well before you get to the Plantation, on the ride out our guide really explained what we were seeing, explaining what had occurred when Katrina did so much damage to the wetlands. The Plantation itself incredibly beautiful and very serene, sad ending to a dynasty. The slave quarters really hits home about how people can be treated so differently just by the color of their skin... OMG on the Swamp Boat ride, very informative beautiful place not what I expected, who would of thought alligators like marshmallows. Don't miss this tour you will be missing out on a fabulous time.

Wish we had got to see more than one plantation. This one was a bit boring. The boat trip was good, the captain was great, but thought we would get deeper into swamp territory. Overall a nice day
Very good tour, the tour guides were very informative, on the bus, in the plantation and in the swamp. There was not enough time allocated to the plantation to be able to see anything but the house. Trip ran much longer than advertised, so participants should not make any plans after the tour banking on 4.5 hours.
