    What To Expect

Choose a morning or afternoon pickup from the French Quarter and climb aboard your coach for the ride deep into Cajun country. Watch the changing scenery as the cityscape transitions into expansive wetlands. You coach delivers you to the launch point across the Mississippi River, where you’ll transfer to an open‐sided, covered boat and set off on the fun and educational ride.

Your native guide will take you on a wildlife‐spotting expedition through this legendary Louisiana terrain. Glide along the water, viewing the lush greenery and abundant local wildlife, including nesting alligators, egrets, raccoons, snakes, and giant nutria. Some wildlife are more easily spotted during the warmer months of the year.  Get great photos and learn about the history and mystery of the swamps, including the culture and ingenuity of the Cajun people who have populated this region for almost 250 years. Your guides will share stories about Cajun music, bayou lifestyle, and culinary traditions — like the creation of Louisiana’s signature gumbo, as well as information about the region’s passionate efforts to preserve the wetlands.

Your coach returns to the French Quarter by mid‐afternoon or evening.

    Mississippi River (Pass By)

After a short coach ride across the Mississippi River, embark on a fascinating 2-hour boat trip through the swamps and bayous of New Orleans.

    Barataria Preserve (Pass By)

You will travel through the Barataria Preserve, part of the Jean Lafitte National Park & Preserve system. The preserve offers a taste of Louisiana's wild wetlands, protecting 23,000 acres of bayous, swamps, marshes and forests.

    Awesome Tour
    cherieking74, May 2022
We had a ball on our tour. Our guide T Earl Gator is the GOAT. He was very informative about the swamp, gators, and the bayou. One of the most memorable moments of our visit to New Orleans

Friendly bus driver. The boat ride was very short. Very little information shared by “guide.” Not what was expected.
Great family outing for all ages.

    Sabrina_P, May 2022
Really enjoyed being out on the water and hearing about the history of La Fitte from our tour guide! Overall, a really peaceful experience. We did the covered boat so it was nice to be shaded from the blazing sun.
    Fun experience
    MICHAEL_B, May 2022
It was fun to get out on the water and see the beautiful scenery that the area has. We learned a lot about the history of the bayou area and got to see some alligators.
Don’t book with Viator if you want to go on time.
    Sniggs_G, May 2022
The tour was great and GreyLine was awesome to work with. However, Viator sucks!! We booked this trip over a month ago but Viator didn’t book with greyline until the day before so when we went to exchange our tickets the tour was sold out. GreyLine was amazing and got us on the next departing tour but it delayed our plans and was just annoying. Don’t book your trip through this app just book directly through GreyLine and enjoy the overall experience.
Many alligators! But be careful on bus ride
    Takayuki_I, May 2022
The boat trip on swamp was a great experience. You can see many alligators there. However, the bus ride to swamp was awful (30min each) as the road was quite bumpy and the guys was driving too fast = got sick by bus ride, not by boat!
    Not recommend.
    Selena_S, May 2022
For a 4hours tour I was expecting to be on the boat for at least half of that and not just 1h30. Plus the tour guide gave marshmallow to the alligators and they was an albino alligator put in a very small pond of water in the hurt shop. This is animal cruelty.
    Great trip
    Sungmin_K, May 2022
It makes us a great memories and all steps are very kind. I strongly recommend you this trip will give you inspiration.
    Great Tour
    Bruce_L, May 2022
The guide was excellent.. His discussion of New Orleans history was great. Could have seen more swamps and gators. Our last swamp tour did more of that. I would still highly recommend the tour.

    John_L, May 2022
Wow! What a trip! Kin the driver to and from the location was entertaining and full of information. The swamp boat company was fantastic and nothing prepared me for the beauty of the landscapes or see alligators in their natural habitat.
