What To Expect

Start your visit to the 9/11 Memorial Museum with a self-guided tour of the exhibitions and multimedia displays. The museum itself is located below the 9/11 Memorial, the reflecting pools that are the footprints of the Twin Towers that fell due to the devastating terrorist attack in 2001.

With your timed admission, you have guaranteed entry to stay for as long as you want. It is suggested that you take at least two hours to wander the museum. This admission saves you time by giving you direct entry into the center with your mobile device.

The museum also includes a pair of main exhibits: a memorial exhibition called In Memoriam, in honor of the people who lost their lives that day in 2001 as well as the people who were killed during the World Trade Center 1993 bombing. The second exhibition is September 11, 2001, a three-part exhibition that tells the tale of the day and analyzes motives for the attacks. It also shows the aftereffects of the attack and how the event changed the world, both locally and globally.

This museum experience brings out the emotions in the guests who visit. Get ready to hear the stories of loss and sadness, of compassion and recovery, as you explore the space.

The National 9/11 Memorial & Museum

Traveler Tips

Allow at least 2-3 hours to walk through, but its easy to spend more time than that.
I recommend you have audio head phones and listen to tour guide as you walk around.
This was not mentioned and the app is great, but you cannot take advantage of it without headphones.

Moving Experience at 9/11 Museum
Ranjit_R, Feb 2023
My son and I went to New York City in October 2022 and it seemed busier that the last time I visited in 2017. Pre booking tickets for the 9/11 Memorial/Museum meant that we had a stress free visit and thorough enjoyed the museum. The visit was emotional, but informative. 9/11 is a must when visiting NYC. I wou;d highly recommend booking through Viator.

The entire Museum is so well done. The horrors of that day are relived but the love and patriotism of this country are also relived. Your heart breaks for the victims and their families, but it’s so nice that we can pay tribute to them in such a beautiful way.

Listening to the actual calls from victims. Messages left from families searching for their relatives. So sad, the photographs of the victims.

We were with a friend who lost a fellow flight attendant on the American Flight that hit the World Trade Buildings. She gave us the inside scoop ahead of time to check out different aspects of the museum because it's pretty intensive. There are a ton of things to read, see, listen to. Very moving and interesting.

Just a chillingly sombering experience that makes you grateful for all that you have in life! The museum is well thought out and tells a tragic story in a light you haven’t experienced prior to a visit in this museum !
Powerful
Edward_G, Jan 2023
The museum was so well done and it was extremely powerful. I really like how it is set up and how you go down into the experience and then rise out of it at the end. I thought that was symbolic at least for me. I had a good cry and a short prayer once I was outside by the memorial. Everyone should experience it.
