Excellent tour helped by a very knowledgeable guide and native New Yorker.
We were disappointed not to be able to see Chapel and think this should have been mentioned at the time of booking that it was closed. But guide was excellent and made up for it.
I would recommend this tour. Some of the detail I had forgotten and some was new.
John was an amazing tour guide. Very informative, great speaker. Love to hear his personal account of 9/11
Our tour guide, Tony, was fantastic!. He was so passionate about the information, and provided so many details. He waited for everyone at each stop and made sure we were ready to listen before he began. He didn't rush us while we took pictures or asked questions and was very polite. He also provided extra information about the American Express Memorial that we probably wouldn't have gotten otherwise. We went to see it and were very touched. We highly recommend this tour!
John our guide was gracious with an enviable knowledge of the city and a personal connection to 9/11 which made the difference to his walking tour. He challenged you to ask yourself how would you go on after such an attack? He showed you how New Yorkers have survived and how a city still recovers but marches on. It was a very thought provoking tour.
We arrived late just as he was taking our group to St Paul's Church but he quickly sorted us out and we joined the group. We all agreed we could have walked on with him all day, a testament to the passion he has for his job and his city.
I can't pick out any one particular part of the tour as it was all very relevant to each part however the reflection pools were quite emotional and learning how the architect intended the pools to present was beautiful and thoughtful.
We opted to add the One World Observatory Entrance and were not disappointed, we had a sensational day where the skies were blue and you could literally 'see forever' it is definitely worth doing.
Thanks again John for 'your' tour, you bought so much character to it we doubt we would have enjoyed this with anyone but you.
The tour was excellent. The tour guide, Michelle, made the experience fantastic. She had great stories, answered questions, and had a great personality that everyone enjoyed. Thank you!
A well organised tour which was very informative. Our guide was lovely and explained her memory of where she was at the time of the atrocities. One World centre is definitely to be seen.
Our experience with Len was truly memorable. He provided an insight only available to someone who was actually there with the kind of first hand experiences and emotions that go with that sort of journey. I commend Len on his work and ethics and trust that he will continue to share with anyone willing to take the time to listen. I give a true thumbs up to Len and thank him for an experience that I do not feel could be replicated.
The tour guide was great. He made our 90 minute journey so personal and so meaningful. I have walked by the 911 memorial before but this time, having a knowledgable tour guide made this visit very meaningful and quite emotional. This is one of many Viator experiences we have had. Viator has never disappointed us. Thank you.
Our guide was very personable and extremely well informed - he had experienced 9/11 first hand. He was patient, polite, and willing to answer all questions. My friend Marilyn McLennan and I consider him a first class guide.
Hi Viator, I just want to say how great the tours
were last Friday! My wife and I, and our three friends
a pastor from New York, and a rabbi and bishop
from Israel enjoyed two excursions April 15th the 2pm Ground
Zero guided tour, followed by the One World Observatory. They were
Our guide for the 2pm Ground Zero tour, Tony, had first-hand experience of 9/11, and his
personal perspective was poignant and heart-wrenching. On 9/11 Tony worked
atop one of the two World Trade Center Towers. He started the tour by explaining how
on that Tuesday morning of 9/11 he narrowly escaped death, because
he delayed going up the Tower to his workplace by only a few minutes
because the weather was unusually clear and beautiful that fateful day.
But sadly all of his co-workers died instantly when only a few moments later
the hijacked jetliner slammed into his building, right into the very
floor where they all worked, and where Tony 'would have' been, had be followed his normal morning routine. He showed us the names of each of his co-workers and friends engraved on
the 9/11 fountain memorials.
Tony's first-hand knowledge was amazing. He took us around Ground Zero, from place to
place, to several exact spots where full-page photos taken on the morning of 9/11 were taken. We could see in the photos the collapsing buildings, the ruins and destruction, the smoke and horror of those horrific moments. We could see that we were standing at the exact same spots as in the photos. Talk about 'making it real'! Viator, thank you. Tours like this cannot be bought with money. Thank you so much!
PS. Thank you for the 'refer-a-friend' which enabled us to save
10 each. I highly recommend Viator to everyone out there!
the guide was extremely knowledgeable and helpful.would recommend this tour
John Garay our guide was superb. He was extremely knowledgeable and since he was a first responder he was able to truly give us some insights into that day. This is a must see memorial. The observation deck was fabulous. Great views in all directions. Brought back memories of Window on the World in the old World Trade Center
The perfect way to be introduced to a very sad part of New York's recent history.
Great! The tour guide was excellent! Could not have asked for a better guide.
