We didn't expect that we would have a private tour for just the two of us! That was definitely worth it I don't know if that always happens, but it might!. Do your homework ahead, so when they ask what you want to see, you'll have a good answer, because they'll take you wherever you want to go. But even going in without prior planning, the tour was fantastic. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable 18 years experience, showed us some Easter eggs hiding in the dioramas, and knew the history of the museum and all the exhibits. He explained how museum science has changed over the years, and why the new exhibits were set up the way they are. These are the things you can't get from reading the placards.

We also got to see the planetarium show and had the option of seeing others. I haven't been to one in years and the new technology is amazing. I loved being able to see what the radio telescopes and satellites looked like, in particular.

The museum staff took very good care of us on this tour, and being in the museum before-hours was a treat in itself. If you love this museum, you will get a whole new perspective on it from this tour.

At this time of the year, it would be impossible to see everything unless you had early access. The crowds are amazing. There were expecting 6 times the normal amount of people to visit that day.
The tour was excellent. We saw all the major exhibits before the crowds arrived. The guide was also excellent.
The tour ticket also included admission to all the temporary exhibitions as well which definitely made it worthwhile.

My guide, Marion, was fantastic! So knowledgeable and really customized the tour to what I was interested in seeing. A highlight of my trip!
