Bear Mountain Full-Day Cruise

Take in fabulous river views accompanied by German food, beer which are available for purchase (and live weekend entertainment) on the boat, then spend a few hours relaxing amidst the natural beauty at Bear Mountain.

Start your day in the morning at Pier 83 in Manhattan, departing by boat as you head north up the Hudson. During the ride you’ll cruise past such landmarks as the high cliffs of the Palisades, Grant’s Tomb, the Cloisters medieval garden and the George Washington Bridge. The trip is even more spectacular in the fall months, when golden and orange-hued trees line the riverbanks. If you’re feeling hungry, grab some German beer or food (available for purchase) thanks to the onboard Oktoberfest, which also includes live music on Saturdays and Sundays.

Soon you’ll arrive at Bear Mountain, situated 45 miles (72 kilometers) outside of the Big Apple, in the Hudson Highlands area. Spend three hours in this beautiful region at your leisure. Among the many options are the Iona Island Estuarine Reserve and Bird Refuge, Trailside Museums and Zoo, Perkins Tower and the carousel and pavilion.

An optional picnic lunch tour option allows you to enjoy a delicious outdoor meal once you arrive at the recreation area, and those who wish can purchase drinks, wine, beer, cocktails, hot dogs, sandwiches and snack foods on board during the ride.

A beautiful trip. The boat cruise along the Hudson River was relaxing with lovely riverside views on both sides including the Manhattan shoreline. After the short scenic hike to the top of Bear Mountain it was lovely to see the glowing Autumn colours as elsewhere throughout my trip they had been sparse. The surprise at the end of the walk was the gorgeous Hessian Lake which I also walked around. A trip to recommend to all tourists both local and international.

The Circle Line Bear Mountain sightseeing cruise was wonderful. There was just enough time on the boat and plenty of time to go exploring when the boat docked at Bear Mountain. The boat was clean with plenty of seating both inside and out. There was great food and drinks as well. The German band was very entertaining.

The trip started early in the morning and was full of great sites along the Hudson and with narrative by the crew. Lots of good food and snacks were available on the boat. Bear Mountain was lovely and fun to hike up to the lake, the rustic café, and the gorgeous rock formations and lovely forests along the way up. Our trip was in the Fall and the leaves were stunning. The café offered hot dogs, burgers, chicken sandwiches and soft drinks and beer. The trip back on the Hudson was just as interesting and the view of NY skyline in the afternoon was beautiful. Take this trip. You will enjoy it!! Sandy Brown

A first time experience, but certainly re-doable. My guests thoroughly enjoyed our trip. Ambiance and service were pleasurable, the music was great. It should have been broadcast throughout the vessel. The walk at Bear Mountain was unexpected but tolerable. I'w awaiting the change in season to re-book another trip.

The Boat ride was great, but not much to do at Bear Mountain.
