What You Can Expect

Greenwich Village Walking Tour

Take a walk along Greenwich Village's history-laden streets

Greenwich Village and its winding streets were already here when the rest of Manhattan’s streets were laid out as a grid in the early 19th century. See those crooked streets and more in a 2-hour guided walking tour that covers more than 200 years of history. Check out the beautiful, historic brownstone residential buildings and the area’s bars and restaurants.

Edgar Allan Poe lived and wrote in this historic and beautiful neighborhood. The poet Dylan Thomas drank himself to death here. Radical thinkers John Reed and Upton Sinclair started counterculture movements, and the Village has been a haven for bohemians and a birthplace of the Beat movement. Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix played the small clubs and created some of their best music here. Your guide will also share the history of the gay rights movement as you pass landmarks.

Experience the present, learn a lot about the past and maybe even get a glimpse into the future of this iconic space in New York City. Finish the tour in iconic Washington Square and continue to explore this small but historic geographic area on your own.

We were delighted to see Remy as the tour guide as he was our guide on a previous tour, the tour was 2 hours long but went very quickly, it felt like we not in modern New York and took a step back in time. Greenwich is famous enough for its jazz bars where famous people played in the clubs. There is a park with a smaller replica acre de triumph where there is a beautiful pond with a fountain in the middle with entertainers like a man playing a piano and the pigeon man. Remy is full of useful information but also brings the a bit fun into the tour, he also gave us some food reccomdations and we even got the see the outside of the building in Friends.
