If you want to see Washington its worth the train trip 3 hours each way from New York City. For us it was well worth it.
A comprehensive and easy-to-do self-navigational tour. A long day, but would highly recommend.

A fantastic trip! What a beautiful city. The hop on hop off was a fantastic way to see all the sights. Pity there isn't an express train so there is more time to spend there.
Great tour. We wanted to see DC for a day but not spend the night, so this was the ideal way to go. Thanks.
Beautiful city one day isn't enough to see all there is to see. Felt like we had a rushed day take time to go and stay there for a couple of days it is well worth it.

A great trip but the day we chose happened to be extremely cold. Other than that it was a lovely and comfortable train ride and the 'hop on hop off' bus was good too. Thank you :)
Its worth going to Washington as there are many sights to see. the train left around 8:00 so we got their at lunchtime. The only problem we had was that the train going back to New York was at 19:30 and you can not go on a n earlier train, so this makes it a very long day.

The tour was great, but we saw the White House only from a distance. I wish the guides had allowed us to at least walk a little to the White House and Capitol Hill. I wonder if it was worth spending so much time on Arlington Cemetery. No disrespect meant, but surely Washington has better things to offer than glorified graves.
No problems at all - well organised from start to finish. Enjoyed the whole experience.
Overall a good trip.
Much better seeing Washington from NYC on the train as it saves a lot of time and the train is a LOT comfier! Fast and free wifi also.
Areas of improvement:
-The tour was basically tickets for the hop on hop off bus- so not exactly a guided tour. Would pay more for a fully guided option.
-Had to pickup the tickets day before after 430pm but before 730pm- which meant we had to cut that day short. Would be better if the tickets could be emailed to us as there was no reason it could not have been.
-One of our meal vouchers did not work. Hence we had to spend $11 when the voucher should have worked. They said the vouchers had been used already which we had not.
Area we liked:
-Train option is fast and comfy.
-Guides when present on the bus was informative.
-routes taken by bus seemed good and was frequent.
-Ticket collection at train station was easy and person was helpful.
Tickets were not available when we went to the supplier. Returned several hours later and still no tickets. Had to return a third time to finally get them. Frustrating; however, the trip itself was good. Enjoyed DC very much.

We did not have any time to go around the different places, but I did see it all by going on the bus. If I went again I would stay in Washington for a few days to look around properly!

The tour was OK but we saw more cemeteries than anything else. On the plus side Washington railway station was great and we did have time to walk around Capitol Hill before the bus trip.
The train trip was OK but the bus was terrible. The drivers were surly and the first one did not give us earphones. When we got upstairs a passenger went down and got them for us When we got off for the Whitehouse and returned we waited over an hour for our bus while 2 of the opposition buses came along. On the whole very disappointing. I had been before but my friend hadn't
Nothing great - you arrive in Washington to wait around 2 hrs for the tour to start. There's not much to do in and around the train station. The tour was ok, but nothing great. After the tour you have another 2 hrs before boarding the train back to New York. It was a waste of a day.
