Hidden gems

Amazing to see fantastic bars that I’d never know were there! There’s a history hidden around the city right beneath our noses and the guides are there to share! Great experience with friends.

Tour guide “Matteo” was knowledgeable, but not with any pertinent information to any of the bars we went to. Info on the tour Said 6-7 speakeasies, we only visited 3. Would not recommend to anyone.

NOT WHAT WAS ADVERTISED. Only went to 3 of the advertised “6-7” speakeasies. None of which were the ones that were advertised. Tour guide “Matteo” was knowledgeable, but not actually on any of the places visited. Would not recommend for anyone else.

Disappointing Experience

A disappointment. We were expecting an authentic speak easy experience. We didn’t get any facts or history of the era. Our tour guide rambled about historical facts, most not pertaining to prohibition or the creation of the speakeasy. When we arrived at the three speakeasy spots, they weren’t prepared for the group. They had trouble splitting our bills, and weren’t as accommodating as other tours we have taken. We could have found these ourselves and gone to drink anywhere. That was all this experience was. Save you money, Google NYC speakeasy and go yourself.

This was not what we thought it would be. The guide was very informative but we were disappointed with the actual locations. Just little bars behind a closed door. Not even themed

Awesome and educational to boot

The tour didn't get off to the best of starts as Alex's Tours hadn't conveyed the booking to the guide, who was consequently 40 minutes late. Then the first establishment was shut. Thankfully Sam was a great tour guide and we still had an awesome night.

Very cool, yet casual speakeasy tour. Fun for out-of-towners, as well as locals. Cool venues, inventive cocktails, and a knowledgeable guide. Def recomnend as a fun date idea!

Interesting locations and knowledgeable guide!

This tour took us to some really cool places. Alex was our tour guide and he was very knowledgeable. My only real complaint was that we signed up for the West Village but were automatically booked to the Lower East Side without telling us. I had to inquire and I learned that there were not enough people for the West Village and also there was a good chance that a venue might be privately booked which would ruin the tour. Totally understandable reason but I'm glad I inquired otherwise I might have been very confused. My only other advice is for Alex to give the group a little bit of time on our own in each venue. He had amazing knowledge about all things prohibition but it was nonstop and we didn't really have time to relax and enjoy the venue and the mood of the locations.

Not what was expected

We met in a very dark park and it wasn't clearly marked so we didn't feel safe. We expected some history and actual bars from the early 1900's. There was no history given and the bars were modern bars decorated to look like early 1900's decor. Very hard to get a drink and then they were extremely expensive. It just wasn't what we expected, we made the best of it but disappointed.
