Great experience! Tour guide knew so much about the history, kept us all in order and moving a long and was very personable. If you go during the winter, like we did, dress appropriately. It was VERY cold and windy! The only regret is not spending more time on Ellis Island. We spent so much time at the Statue that we were all hungry and tired by the time we went through Ellis so didn't stay longer. GREAT TOUR!
This was an absorbing, insightful and entertaining trip. Our host was warm and engaging and gave us an interesting perspective, based on his personal experience. Well worth it!!!
This tour was amazing, our tour guide Sal, Italian heritage and brought up in Brooklyn was soooooo knowledgeable and the tour was incredibly informative as well as fun!! Timing was accurate and instructions for meeting point was great too. We would most definitely use Sal as a tour guide for other experiences when we revisit NYC and would highly recommend him to others.
Thank you Sal :-
Loved the tour. The tour guides were informative and friendly. Liked that you could stay at Ellis Island as long as you wanted. We had lunch there and enjoyed the views of city and weather.
We really enjoyed this trip. The tour guide Derek was very informative and helpful. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn more about the history of immigration in America. We thoroughly enjoyed you whole trip.
Weather was awful, cold, wet windy, but our guide Mike made up for this. He was very knowledgeable and funny in presenting important elements of both. Ellis Island is a moving place to visit especially if you have had any relatives who have entered during the last century.
Our guide Sal was outstanding - exceptionally knowledgeable and interested in informing us about the city and Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island. Even made the effort to lay down on the ground to take photos of people with the SoL. Well worth it - be prepared for the crowds getting on and off the ferry and ferry can bob a lot in the waves
I have lived in New York City my entire life 30 years. It was during my mid 20s where I began to recognize all the people from around the world who visit and experience the glorious landmarks in and around my revered city. As a result both my partner and I decided that it is our responsibility to experience this city like a tourist.
I am so happy that I used Viator, and even more happy to have had Sal, a native New Yorker as our tour guide. He handled all the micro and macro concerns from preparing us for numerous checkpoints, to volunteering to take photos during multiple point on the tour, etc. Overall this experience is highly recommended.
This tour was great. Our guide Sal was very informative and well organized.
We could hear him fine with our earpieces. He even took pictures for us.
My teenage boys loved it too.
Great tour guide. The very nice young man did a great job. We had a wonderful time.

Great tour, our tour guideMike was excellent, very knowledgeable and very helpful, we all had earphones and could hear him clearly wherever we stood, and we never got lost there was about 20 of us on the trip. Well organized .
We just returned from this amazing tour! Michael, our guide, was very informative and SUPER NICE.it was informative and fun. He made sure we were cared for and took time to check on us every once in a while to see if we were ok. I would definitely take this tour again. When you book ask for Michae
Our tour guide, Mike, was very knowledgeable and went out of his way to make sure that we all learned a lot and had a great time. Many on this tour were older and had physical limitations and he was very sensitive to everyone's needs. I highly recommend this tour!
Loved this tour. It worked out that our group was small. Tour guide Saul had so much historical knowledge about both sites. He knew every detail. He was very helpful and allowed for our slower pace of walking since we were older. And the addition of headphones to hear everything he said even in a crowd was wonderful!!
Mike made the tour fun and interesting. He talked about the history of New York harbor on the way to the ferry continued with interesting comments and pictures throughout the whole day. He really made the tour better. You can go without a guide, but we felt that the whole experience was made better with a guide. We noticed that, often, people not on the tour would lean in to listen. Well worth the price.
Tour leader Derek was very knowledgeable and articulate. Loved the use of a hand held microphone by the leader and ear buds for all participants to hear what was being said without having to huddle around the guide and have outside noise not a factor.
Sal was an amazing tour director! This tour is very informative and money well spent. You get an unclose and personal look at the Statue, the construction and placement, as well as the history of Ellis Island. This tour takes about 4 hours and is a bit of a wait for the ferry off Ellis Island.
A must do tour, but be sure to take it with SAL. Sal is a native New Yorker with a degree in history. He has a depth of knowledge rarely found on day tours. My husband and I both highly recommend SAL .
This tour was worth every penny! Sal, our guide, was absolutely fantastic and he made this whole trip to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, one of the best trips we went on in New York, and he made the history come alive for us. He provided us all with headsets and headphones, so that we could hear him clearly, wherever we were standing. Sal was knowledgeable and extremely well informed about everywhere we visited, all of which he shared with the group in a really lovely and pleasant way. He knew how to get from one place to the next in the best possible way, which benefited us all as a group, so that we saw everything of interest, utilising all our valuable tour time to the maximum, and he pointed out things that, had we done the trip independently, we would have totally overlooked and missed. My family, both young and old, I can safely say, got so much enjoyment from this trip with Sal, and we would've missed out on so much information had we not gone with Sal and his valuable experience. Thank you so much Sal for making our memories of visiting the Statue of Liberty so wonderful!
Absolutely loved this tour! Our guide Sal was amazing! He kept us all safely together, was so enthusiastic about the history and very knowledgeable, as well as being funny too! We learnt so much! He provided us with earphones to hear him at all times and we got to skip big queues with him! Thanks Sal!
Excellent guide. Sal was great. Probably one of the best guides we have had and we travel a lot.
Well worth the money! Our guide was a native New Yorker and had an extensive knowledge of both island and New York history as a whole. We and #39;ll definitely book again.
Our tour was amazing! Our guide also was very knowledgeable and open for all questions! Super!
