What You Can Expect

The Hamptons, Sag Harbor and Outlet Shopping Day Trip from New York City

The Hamptons, Sag Harbor and Outlet Shopping

Hop on the comfortable shuttle in New York City and begin the 90-mile (140-kilometer) drive east to the see-and-be-seen Hamptons. As you weave through New York City enjoy the view, particularly when going through the borough of Queens.

Stop in the town of Riverhead and indulge in a hearty country breakfast (at own expense) and then travel on to the town of Southhampton, a charming and trendy little coastal town that is home to the rich and famous, including David Letterman, Paris Hilton and Jerry Seinfeld, among many others. Perambulate down the quant streets flanked by cafes and boutiques and learn about the history of the place.

The next stop is Sag Harbor, a cute little town that boasts a yacht-filled marina. Walk along the sea and the streets of Sag Harbor, soaking up the historic ambience.

After lunch (not included) you will head west towards the Tanger Outlets where you will receive mall goodies and then explore the stores -- find your own bargain with brand name stores for less. In the late afternoon you will depart west for an evening arrival in New York City.

Although we were let down by the weather, storm Hermine in fact, this tour was brilliant taster of The Hamptons. Our guide Beatrix was simply wonderful. She really tried to make the most of the day despite of the weather. She even planned a quick stop at Walmart so we could gear up with waterproof ponchos and umbrellas. The Hamptons stops were lovely. Beautiful to wander around. Beatrix recommended a Pizzeria in Sag Harbor to grab a bite and although it didn't look like much from the outside, it was great and honestly one of the best pizza's I have ever eaten. From The Hamptons we took an unexpected stop at a vineyard for a short wine tasting visit. It was at no additional cost and with no obligation to buy. However, the wine was lovely and very affordable so I'd recommend grabbing a bottle if this is a normal part of the tour. From there we went to the Outlet. A day previous we had visited Woodbury Common Outlet so we were slightly over shopping at this point but it was still a great place. However, I would say Woodbury Common has more to offer and was better overall. We had about an hour and an half here so if you wanted to do some serious shopping then this isn't enough time. From the Outlet we headed back to Manhattan. As we neared the city our guide welcomed us back to New York by playing Billy Joel's ''New York State Of Mind'', a lovely touch to end a fab day.

Totally enjoyed it - thought they did a good job showing us what they were able to do. Off season - so a lot of the shops were closed.

The day trip to the Hamptons was fantastic. Our guide was super prepared with history, not only in the Hamptons, but along the way as well. She and the driver were most accomodating to my husband who had some leg problems. We never felt rushed, I loved the small group.
