Nice day, but could have been so much better

The guide ‘Chris’ was very good and very knowledgeable about the history of the Hunter Valley region and the local wineries. The wine maker at the first winery we visited ‘The Hunter Wine Lab’ was brilliantly entertaining and obviously passionate about his wines and he loved talking about his passion - which was great! The experience at the second winery was good (without being great) as was the quality of the wine. The third tasting of wine, which is where we also had a very average lunch, was again okay, The host was reasonably knowledgeable about their products, but he was quite robotic in his delivery and little unenthusiastic….. and that was basically where the wine tasting ended. There was a tasting of spirits that followed as well as a chocolate and cheese tasting, which is fine, but I paid good money to taste wine, and I was disappointed that there wasn’t more wineries. I’ve been on many wine tours and have never tasted so little wine.

Memorable full-day wine tour. Our group was personalized with a lovely couple in time-frame as scheduled. Also, Julie, our tour guide, was a fantastic person, she gave us in-depth information beforehand. We loved most of our wine tour. My partner and I love a single bit and everything about the tour.

Value for money - lunch included

Julie our driver was friendly, engaging, accommodating and answered enquires promptly. Julie also was generous in offering to take personal pics for the customers on the tour. We were picked up at our accomodation in Cessnock and dropped back at the end of the tour. The bus was comfortable and water was on offer during the day. We totally loved the venues included on this tour - Oakvale , James Estate, Hunter Dreams, Pokolin Estate Winery, The Garden Cellars and Hunter Valley Olive Co! Lunch was wonderful with so many options to choose from. Options included BLT, steak sandwich, salt n pepper squid, rump steak, pumpkin and feta salad, smashed avocado, crispy skin salmon and others options. This tour was total value for money. I can highly recommend this wine tour.
