What a lovely surprise! I was expecting a 4 hour trip to the perfume factory and then to a wine tasting but we ended up with a full day of travelling in the French countryside.
We started the morning with a drive to Grasse. this was a little long as it was at 0900 and we ended up in rush hour traffic. When we did arrive in Grasse, we ended up having to travel to the other factory in the city as some people in our group had already done a tour previously in Eze of the factory and wanted to wander the city instead of doing another tour. So this delayed us a little bit. But when we finally did arrive at the downtown destination, it was well worth it. The factory is smaller than I expected but very interesting. The tour didn't take very long and it ended with a chance to smell perfume and other items made.
Then off we went but to my surprise, we weren't wine tasting just yet. We stopped at a little town, wandered around, saw the old medieval church and the local village. It was a welcome break from the van. Then the next leg took us way up the mountains to a little village of Gourdon. We stopped along the way to take pictures of the village from afar as it really was something. Nestled on the top of a cliff, it was really neat to see it from a distance. You could really see how small it was as well as how high up it was. When we arrived, it was so picturesque and quaint you couldn't help take pictures there. We stopped long enough to have lunch at a restaurant with a great view, do some shopping and look around the little town. This place must be very quiet at night as I'm guessing most people there were tourists.
After lunch , we piled back into the van and headed back to Nice. Our final destination was the wine tasting a a chateau. Also very picturesque for different reasons. We had a chance to tour the facilities and see the casks and the wine making vats. We were able to taste some white and red wines no roses unfortunately and they took us to see some of the vineyards as well.
Overall, it was a great day with great hosts. they were very knowledgeable and made the trip interesting.
Moumen was an excellent host for this event. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and actually picked us up at each of our locations! The Perfumery was a great learning experience and the lunch at the top of the mountain was breath taking!!
Moumen made this an amazing day! He is a great ambassador for this tour!
Sebastian was an amazing tour guide. I took the tour for the Provence wine-tasting, but the perfumery turned out to be a surprisingly fun experience. I was also impressed with the tour company's efforts to make sure I got to go on the tour, even picking me up at my condo outside of downtown Nice.
My husband and I were the only ones on the tour. Our lady guide was great. I think her name was Hedwig. She was completely flexible with what we did since she had no other guests. We loved the day. The people at the winery were not as pleasant as all the other people we experienced. They seemed to rush us. Find a different winery! We went to two others during our vacation in southern France and had wonderful experiences at them. I highly recommend this wonderday tour.
This was in my opinion the one of the best days of my stay in Nice, it was great get away from the city and see the surrounding countryside. Our guide Hedwig was an excellant guide, very knowledgable and full of interesting information that made the trip for us. The Perfumery was fantastic but the wine tasting was although interesting, very short and i would not make a trip if it were only for a visit to the winery but getting there and back cancelled that out by travelling through some amazing scenery. The lunch stop in the village on top of the hill was also very good .
I would quite happily do this trip again, even just for the sake of getting out into fresh air and the perfumery. the guide also made the day one to remember
We had a wonderful day touring Nice! Our tour guide, Margo, was wonderful and was very knowledgeable and personable. We ended up having a private tour as no one else had signed up for that day. When visiting the Grasse Perfumery, we were given the VIP treatment and were taken to a private room to discover all of the perfumes that they create. We had a lovely lunch in Gourdon with the most beautiful view and the most delicious food. Probably my best meal of my whole European trip. We ended the day with the winery where we had a tour and a testing. The winery was beautiful and the wine was very good. It was a wonderful day that we will always remember!
This was a great, scenic and relaxing day around Grasse and other areas around Nice. Our tour guide was extremely personable and entertaining. He was knowledgeable of the area and the small size of our group made things even more enjoyable. Definitely worth doing for a day to take a break from the beach and coastline.
I loved this tour!!! Our tour guide, Nicolas Kolesnikoff, was so friendly and knowledgable and enthusiastic. You can tell he really loves his job! His spirit was wonderful and he really made the day go smoothly. Every little detail was perfect he went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and having a great time. We saw so much on this day! He also stopped and gave us time at two other small villages to and from Grasse and also made a detour to a confectionary factory and surprised us all with chocolates at the end of the day. The wine tasting was so nice it was a beautiful old winery with so much rich history. The perfumery was worth seeing my only disappointment was that we didn't have time to make our own perfumes apparently it takes a few hours but we still got a great history of the company and to see some of how it is made. And of course, SHOP! Thank you again Nicolas for a day I'll never forget!!
This tour for me was quite memorable, especially as my tour guide Cathy was perfect in her manor and knowledge. Overall I feel the places I went to where quite worthwhile and it was nice to have this all combined into one tour.
A nice blend of activities. Touring the perfume factory was very informative, and the winery tour was tasty.
Our guide Cecile was amazing ! Great communication skills and a good sense of humour.
The tour itself was outstanding. The drive, the locales, the views all just breath taking.
The wine tasting and the perfumery visit - all Great !
Great day...Rainer, our driver/guide was informative about the sights we went to, but we also enjoyed him explaining different aspects of life in France. A great way to see some different spots outside Nice.
Yann was an exceptional tour guide. He was informative and eager to show us as much as he could on the tour. We truly appreciated his friendliness and knowledge.
we really enjoyed it. we got great perfume. Our tour guide was very helpful and kind.
One of my favorite tours. The views and small towns were just amazing.
Everything from start to finish was excellent. The pickup, the route, the guide and our fellow travellers.
Would recommend this tour to everyone.
This was an excellent tour--the guide was knowledgeable, informing and personable. We were picked up at our hotel at the appointed time and the van was most comfortable. We had sufficient time at each stop for exploring and were not hurried, yet the tour continued at an acceptable pace. See previous reviews as to refund remarks.
I highly recommend this tour. Our guide Karolina was lovely...very knowledgeable and offered a nice variety of experiences within the day. This particular tour is a great way to see the French country side that we would have not otherwise seen.
The tour was great! We had more than adequate time to enjoy each stop and never felt rushed. Nice variation of sites, with perfumery, winery and mountain top villages. Our guide, Olivier, was outstanding.
A wonderful day out with Zara. We learnt so much about Nice and the surrounding area - Zara is passionate and knowledgeable about the area. Our tour of Fragonard was excellent. Lunch was in the picturesque village of Valbonne and then we headed into mountains to Gourdon for stunning views across the region. Last stop was the winery - again a wonderful tour and tasting some excellent wines. We highly recommend this tour.
Our tour guide Oliver was fantastic and we saw many more places along the way. Wonderful!
My husband and I had a great time on this trip with Wagner as our guide. He was upbeat, knowledgeable, and a terrific person to spend a day with.
We started the day in a small village market about 45 minutes from Nice. Then we went to Grasse for a tour of the Fragonard Perfumery. This was very interesting. Our guide spoke terrific English and was very knowledgeable about the perfume making process. We especially liked being able to sample different perfumes/colognes for men and women at the end of the tour. We were on our own for lunch in the city of Grasse. We found a crepe stand nearby and had a delicious quick lunch.
Then we went to the small town of Gourdon in a somewhat mountainous area not that far from Grasse. We ended the day at the Chateau de Cremat which is one of only a handful of wineries in the Nice wine region called Appellation Bellet. We had an interesting tour of the winery including an area built by the Romans to store wine. Then our visit concluded with a tasting of several wines. Our winery guide was very knowledgeable about the wines and the region making our tasting all that more enjoyable.
