What You Can Expect

Villefranche Shore Excursion: Small-Group Monaco and Eze Half-Day Tour

See the impressive casino complex at Monte Carlo in Monaco

Take advantage of your time at port with a guided, small-group tour of two historic and diverse destinations on the French Riviera. When your ship arrives at the Villefranche-sur-Mer port just north of Nice, meet your guide at the cruise terminal and board a luxury 8-passenger minivan.

Take in views of the sun-drenched Côte d’Azur and surrounding hillsides as you drive along gorgeous coastal roads to your first stop, the medieval village of Eze. Perched on a ridge 1,400 feet (427 meters) above sea level, Eze boasts a rich history and spectacular vistas. Wander the town’s cobblestone streets and browse local boutiques, then delve into the history of French perfume with a tour of the Fragonard perfumery.

Journey along the scenic Middle Corniche road, passing through the charming village of La Turbie. Learn why it’s called the ‘Terrace of Monaco’ and admire the Trophy of the Alps monument, which dates back to the ancient Roman era.

Cross the border into Monaco, the second-smallest country in the world. Learn about the principality’s royal history as you watch the Changing of the Guard ceremony at the Prince’s Palace (morning tour only) and pay tribute at the tombs of Princess Grace and Prince Rainier III inside the Roman-Byzantine Monaco Cathedral.

Cruise along a section of the famed Formula One Grand Prix race circuit, and wander through Monte Carlo’s ritzy Casino Square — where Europe’s highest rollers come to gamble, mingle and be seen. Ogle majestic buildings and a parade of luxury cars before the scenic return drive to the Villefranche port.

A wonderful tour. Our group of 8 saw so much. Monaco was beautiful, and Eze is charming. Our guide was knowledgeable and shared a lot of history with us as well as what it is like to live there today. Highly recommend this tour. Even the perfume factory was fun, and great products!

A most enjoyable tour! Our tour guide was a handsome young man formerly from Russia. forgotten his name!He spoke English well and was very knowledgeable of the area.He never seemed to rush us and was a very good driver, never felt nervous on the winding, hilly roads. A very worthwhile time and money spent!

Our guide was right on time and was extremely entertaining. It was a wonderful day and well worth the expense. Do remember that if you are on a travel pass with your phone service that Monaco and Monte Carlo are charged differently you will be roaming. You are out of France when you cross over to these two countries.

Excellent tour. My family and I were just here for one day during a cruise and wanted a tour that would give us a chance to really see the French Riviera. Our tour guide Mago was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about the area and even took us to a special spot where we were able to see the entire coastline from Monaco to St. Tropez he's not going to like that I let his secret out. I would definitely recommend the tour as well as Mago as a guide.

Sebastian was great-he knows his way around and pointed out places of interest. The first part of the trip went to Eze where there is a lot of steps to go up to get the best view. As we were in a small van we were able to drive to the end of the road (which coaches couldnt do) so good for me.
