Day 1: Noosa and the Sunshine Coast or Rainbow Beach — Fraser Island (L, D)
After pickup from your Sunshine Coast accommodation in locations from Mooloolaba to Noosa, travel by 4WD through Cooloola National Park. Stop in Can Bay to see wild dolphins and have the opportunity to feed them (own expense). Please note, if you are starting from Rainbow Beach, you will not have the opportunity to feed the dolphins.
After collecting fellow travelers at Rainbow Beach, catch the ferry to Fraser Island. Upon arrival, drive through beaches and rainforest before arriving at Seventy-Five Mile Beach. Your purpose-built 4WD vehicle allows great off-road access and has large windows, so you won’t miss a thing. Take a guided walk through Pile Valley with its towering trees, lush green ferns and streams. Continue on to Central Station, a former logging center. Visit Lake McKenzie, one of 40 crystal-clear lakes on the island where you can swim in the blue water or relax on the white–sand beach. Enjoy a picnic lunch before heading to your beachside accommodation. Have free time in the afternoon then meet your group for dinner.
Overnight: Happy Valley, Fraser Island
Day 2: Fraser Island — Noosa (B, L)
Have breakfast then set out to see the colorful volcano–shaped formations of Rainbow Gorge. Then stop at Eli Creek, the largest freshwater stream on the eastern coast of Fraser Island. There you can opt to walk up the creek along a boardwalk then hop in the gentle waters to float back to the beach. Continue on to the Maheno shipwreck and discover the history of this once-luxurious passenger ship that now sits rusting in the sand. Stop for a picnic lunch in a scenic outdoor location before continuing along the beach to Pinnacles and Coloured Sands. See the impressive cliffs of the Cathedrals and take in stunning panoramic views from Indian Head before departing the island. Your tour ends with drop-off at your starting point in Rainbow Beach, or Noosa and the Sunshine Coast.
