What You Can Expect

Sunrise Pillbox Hike and Southern Island Adventure

Lanikai sunrise hike

Outdoor enthusiasts won’t mind rising early to greet the sunrise on this Oahu hike, departing Waikiki in the predawn hours. On arrival in Lanikai, follow your certified wilderness guide up a somewhat steep trail off-road for roughly 30 minutes. While the route is for beginner to intermediate hikers, completing it in the dark under starlight adds an exciting element.

Upon reaching the summit, explore the historic pillboxes (concrete bunkers) and prepare for an epic view of the Hawaiian sunrise. You have another 30 minutes to watch the sun illuminate the horizon and spread its vibrant hues across the sky. Afterward, hike back down for an ice-cold bottle of water to reward your efforts.

Heading back to Waikiki via a southern island route, your guide stops at Makapu'u Lookout, Sandy Beach, and the Blow Hole. Crunch on delicious granola with fresh fruit and a scone or muffin for breakfast along the way.

Within a few days, you will receive a GoPro video of your Oahu excursion, delivered online.
