The day I went on this tour the whales were all around or maybe it was just 1 whale playing all around - spotted repeatedly :
The staff is super friendly and helpful. They had this natural expert who was very knowledgeable, fun and engaging just like the other crew members :
The buffet lunch was excellent - varied, tasty and Hawaiian :
As for the activities, there was lei making, hula and ukulele lessons. I went for the ukulele - It's a shame I can't remember the instructor's name, but be sure he was very knowledgeable, fun and engaging :
I had a great time! Totally made my day!
This cruise was well-worth it! We were fortunate to see many whales, and the ship was clean and spacious. The optional meal was just okay we had the lunch. The food was plentiful, but not particularly exciting. I would definitely take the cruise again, but probably without the meal.
We were able to sight a mother whale and her calf. The naturalist who spoke about whales was very informative. The buffet lunch was delicious. On the way back in, we had three choices for activities: lei making, hula dancing lessons, and ukelele lessons. We had a great time!
Awesome tour - saw multiple whale breaches and pod of dolphins in first 10 minutes!
The whale watching cruise was wonderful. We saw several whales. And even if we didn't, they would have given you another one for free.Go to the top of the boat, that way if they spot a whale on one side or the other you can quickly move from side to side. They offer breakfast or lunch but we didn't want to do either because we didn't want to be inside in case a whale was spotted. I would suggest to do this on one of your first days there, then if you don't see a whale you can go back. Absolutely worth it. Patty C.
We had a great time on the whale watching cruise. We signed up for the lunch the food was great. We saw 5 whales, two whales had the tail up. The boat ride was great, the crew treats you like royalty, and everything was nice and clean. We would definitely go again.
We did have one problem which was our mistake, we missed the bus to pick us up, as we were at the wrong entrance. The bus called us and by time we went around the block to pick up the bus, they left us. Make sure you get the street name that the bus is picking you up at.
We took a cab it cost us 20 but we did make the cruise. The Cruise company could be a little more clearer with the directions of the pick up.
Great experience. Although there were no whales sited, they gave us the option for a rain check. Great presentation of food, tasted as well as it was presented. Highly recommend this tour. Very accommodating, I was in a wheelchair and moved about very well.
Booked the lunch buffet whale watching tour. The food was mediocre but I wasn't expecting a 5 course meal. Saw a couple of whale pods. I believe that they have a refund if they don't spot any whales. When they do see whales the captain announces where to look and there is a certified naturalist that gives you fun whale facts. In the second half of the trip there are lei making, uke lessons, and some hula dancing. Some live music from uncle Nohea was also nice. One nice thing was that they only loaded the first level so we could roam anywhere on the whole ship! Don't know if I got lucky or if it is always like that but it allowed us to find our own little spot and enjoy the cruise. Whole thing from launch to docking was 2.5 hrs. A little short but for the price I guess its ok.
Great trip. We went in the afternoon and were concerned because it was very windy the day of our cruise. The boat was so stable we didn't even feel the waves. Everyone in our party, including my 85 year old mother, were able to reach the top observation deck and we saw several pods of whales. Great day!! Thank you Captain V. We really enjoyed ourselves. Robert at the bar could have used a helper, but the drinks were good and priced moderately. Our only suggestion would be to move the boarding photo line to one side of the boat so those not wanting a photo don't have to wait in the long line.
As a kamaaina born and raised on Oahu, I have always wanted to go whale watching and I thought the ocean was so beautiful and the colors so vivid. There was some sightings of whales and to have a guarantee like that is terrific. I have already told friends about it and am planning to go again. I loved it.
The price is very good for the tour.
It was so much fun. Beautiful scenery and good food. We did lunch on board and alcohol drinks were reasonably-priced. It didn't matter if we saw a whale or not. But we did see tail, partial body, and blow. Worth the money.
Great tour and got to see the whale jump out of the water. One thing I can say is that the transportation system is wonderful. The Lunch was wonderful and we had a lot of choices. The staff was very friendly and even remembered us from the night before. I would recommend this tour.
We had a nice cruise and meal. The whales were not as active as we had hoped and it was a very windy day but the tour from the boat was breathtaking.
The breakfast was good, and the whale watching was spectacular - we saw two whales and a pod of dolphins, and one whale was performing every display in the book - breeching, tail slap, and pectoral wave. We couldn't have asked for more.
This was an exciting cruise. ?We actually got to see the whales. The crew and staff were very helpful and friendly.
We had a great time and saw several whales. What amazing creatures. It was neat to see them in their natural habit. Worth while adventure. Besides seeing the whales, the view of the island was great too.
The trip was very good...we have manage to take some nice pictures and short records with the whales.
My wife and two friends took this tour on a cloudy day that had just stopped raining at noon. We didn't partake in the meal as it was only a two hour cruise and were going to eat elsewhere. The ship was large and there was no fear of getting seasick even though the waves were slightly rolling. Promised of a free cruise if there were no whale sightings didn't come into effect as we saw many whales after being on the water for about 45 minutes. You have to keep your camera ready as they appear without warning, some close and some further out. The crew was informative and friendly and answered many questions and gave examples of whales sizes with the participants. We've been on other whale watching cruises on smaller boats with closer looks but this one is good for the size of the ship. It is recommended for people who want a comfortable ride on a cruise ship to see whales and don't want to spend all day doing it.
My husband and our 3 children went on the morning ride with the breakfast buffet. Breakfast was really good! The staff was very friendly. We weren't able to see any whales. However your able to walk around the whole ship, its a really nice boat so it ended up being a fun ride anyway. They also give you a rain check if you aren't able to see any whales.
My daughter, 2 teen grandsons and I did a morning buffet tour this month. Shuttle was on time for sail, buffet was good and filling, not great. We saw no whales, very disappointing so asked for free reschedule, which we received voucher for. We thought we might be more likely to see whales during the afternoon, So we booked it at an extra cost of 16.00 per person, no lunch buffet and no shuttle transportation included. We took a taxi at a cost of 22.00 each way from Waikiki. These extras aren't advertised so thought I should put in a review. We did have a lovely successful whale watching tour in the afternoon, so we're glad we did it, but you should know the extra costs possible.
This was a nice little cruise on a big boat. Although they tried to find us whales we were totally skunked. Buffet was good, though.
The cruise offers whale checks if there are no whales sighted on the cruise but it's only good for the season, expiring April 5th. Was hoping that if we came back here within the next year we might be able to use it, say, in December or early January. But no.
Staff on the boat were not helpful... when asked for assisitance with a sick sick passenger essentially was left behind!
