We were told the journey would be 1...
We were told the journey would be 1 and a half hours each way but in fact it was nearer to 2 and a half. Our guide Tsi chi ? was not very clear about hoe the climb worked and also difficult to understand for the poor French people who came with us. The water shoes were 10 dollars each not 5 as on the info. She told us we had to buy them a a shop on the way as otherwise we might be cheraged more at the falls. They were the same price at the falls ! The info needs to be clearer on how difficult the climb is particularly for older people. Also more info on the fact that there are several places to bail out. Both the driver and the guide lost total interest in us on the way back.......she also pushed the tipping too far.
I was in Montego Bay Jamaica Aug. 22, 2017 for a day via cruise. Dunn's River Falls was beautiful an unforgettable experience the guides @ the falls were nice and helpful. However our guide Marie on the bus pocket our food money and said this tour doesn't come with lunch when it actually did.
We had a blast on this excursion. We had a small group of six, so we had transportation to ourselves. The guide and the driver were very kind and informative. On they way to the falls we stopped and tasted rum and shopped for 20 minutes and even scored some fresh beef patties. They climb up the falls was beautiful and the water was COLD but it was worth it. On the ride home we stopped for some fresh jerk chicken that was beyond delicious. I definitely recommend, but keep in mind this isn't for younger children.
Really good day, our guide Patrick was very helpful and informative throughout the day. Only hiccup was having to wait inside the port limits to be picked up by another driver who then took us to meet up with Patrick.
Caroline and Adrian our guide and driver were nice and gave good information. Dunn's River Falls is beautiful but incredibly crowded. We did not get the Jamaican lunch as advertised. We took this tour specifically because of the smaller size of the group. Instructions were to meet the operator asap after our ship docked @ 9 am which we did with no problems. Viator or the local tour company booked us with a group from a ship that docked at 7 am. Those poor people waited in a taxi van for us for 2 hours and included 2 older ladies whose shopping trip was cancelled. They were added to our climb a 600' waterfall tour which they were not prepared for. Needless to say none of them were happy. This was completely the fault of Viator and the locals. Because the other group had to get to their ship 2 hours before we did, we did not get lunch which was to be included, but did get a back woods tour through the hilly impoverished neighborhoods overlooking the bay as the driver detoured through traffic in a mad dash to get the other group to their ship before it left. I would likely never book a tour outside our cruise ship in Jamaica again unless it was just a go to a close beach type thing. If we had been those from the other ship I would be livid instead of just disappointed.
This was an amazing excursion, the tour guide was patient, understanding, being in a small group, taking his time, no rush, smiling and very accommodating to all of our needs during the entire trip. We had plenty of time to explore the Dunn's River Falls, the drive was long, but safe. Just wish we had some snacks or refreshments provided during the van transportation to the park.
