What You Can Expect

City Sightseeing Oxford Hop-On Hop-Off Tour

Discover Oxford's top attractions with a hop-on hop-off bus ticket

With your 24- or 48-hour ticket, see the best of the ‘City of Dreaming Spires’ by bus, with onboard audio commentary offering fascinating snippets of local history. Hop aboard the bus at any of the route’s 20 stops (full itinerary listed below) and enjoy the flexibility of choosing your own itinerary, pace and tour duration.

Grab a comfortable seat in either the indoor or open-air seating section and take in the sights along the 1-hour route. Feel free to stay on for the entire 1-hour loop, or hop off at any stop to see one of Oxford’s historical or cultural landmarks — another bus will be along in 15-30 minutes (depending on the season).

Visit Oxford Castle for a stunning city view from St. George’s tower or a tour of the 900-year-old underground crypt (admission not included). Continue to Christ Church College at Oxford University to marvel at the magnificent architecture, learn about some distinguished former students — such as Lewis Carroll — and to view settings from popular films including The Golden Compass and the Harry Potter series.

Next pay a visit to the Sheldonian Theatre, Sir Christopher Wren’s masterpiece of architectural design completed in 1668. View the restored interior paintings and panoramic views from the prominent cupola. Take advantage of the lofty vantage point to choose your next stop. Perhaps stroll through University Park, or get a little shopping done at the Westgate Shopping Centre or the Oxford Covered Market (a must-do during the holiday season!).

Between stops, explore the city’s local color and soak up the rich character of this celebrated hub of global education. To end your tour, disembark at any stop along the route, any time you like. Easy!

48hrs was unnecessary. The city isn't big enough to warrant it really. But we enjoyed the trip and the conductors were very helpful.

Tour took about an hour. Takes you around all the key spots and gives short commentary which then allows you to go back and see the spots you want in lots more detail.

Best thing to do. Gave us a better knowledge of the history and architecture and set us up for what we wNted to explore in detail. However, don't get your tickets from yjis site. They were more expensive than buying them on the bus and they have not responded to an email we sent 6 days ago
