What You Can Expect

Agrigento Day Trip from Palermo

Explore the Valley of the Temples on this full-day trip

Greet your courteous guide at a central Palermo location and climb aboard a comfortable, air-conditioned minivan destined for Agrigento, an ancient city on Sicily’s south coast.

Delve into the rich historical heritage of the region as you listening to commentary that illuminates the heyday of ancient Greek city, Akragas, along the journey.

On arrival, head straight inside the Archaeological Museum of Agrigento to browse exhibits showcasing valuable and insightful artefacts from ancient eras. Explore the compelling collection independently, marvelling at pottery and statues, before reconvening with your guide at a pre-arranged time.

Next, revitalize with a traditional Italian lunch (own expense), and then head to the UNESCO-listed Valley of the Temples to marvel at perfectly preserved monuments that herald the existence of an ancient city. Appreciate the immaculately restored Temple of Concord, a structure that dates back to the 5th century, and then return to your vehicle for the relaxing drive back to Palermo, where the tour concludes.

The best part of our tour was the guide, Giusefina. She was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and tried her best to accommodate everyone. The Valley of the Temples is a must see on any trip to Sicily. We highly recommend this tour and especially our guide Giusefina. I think this is a great opportunity to see the ruins and learn about ancient times. However, I would put this trip to leave a little earlier in order to experience more the city and the museum because, once you arrive, there is little time to do so, I would also include lunch in the trip because after all, they bring you to a specific restaurant. The guide was very good and I think that a little leaflet with information on what you will see during the trip to get there would also help to understand more the main highlights, nothing fancy or expensive, just additional information.
