Snack your way through the streets of Palermo on this Sicilian food tour. Explore backstreet markets and food stalls specializing in local delicacies like stuffed rice balls and chickpea fritters as your guide fills you in on local history, culture. Plus, this small-group tour has a limited number of participants for a more personalized experience.
  • Small-group street food tour around Palermo
  • Hunt out the best Sicilian street food with a foodie guide
  • Visit Sicily’s open-air markets including Vucciria Market and Mercato di Capo
  • Taste five authentic Sicilian street foods and one local wine
Meet your guide in Piazza Verdi, near the iconic Teatro Massimo opera house. It’s the largest in Italy, and was in a pivotal scene in The Godfather: Part III. Get your Palermo ‘foodie’s passport,’ which you’ll get stamped at every tasting point along the tour.

Street food is cooked and served at street stalls, modest bakeries and old bars. This street food tour has been designed to show Palermo with no filters of any kind.

Begin making your way to the Vucciria Market and Mercato di Capo, two busy and colorful outdoor markets in Palermo. Listen as your guide offers insights into how Sicily’s unique culinary history informs its street food scene while vendors of local produce and seafood promote their goods. The Church of the Immaculate Conception is nearby, which you can visit if you like (own expense).

Get in line at neighborhood bakeries, cafes and street food stalls to try a variety of famous Sicilian street snacks. Munch on chickpea fritters called panelle and deep-fried balls of rice stuffed with meat, vegetables and cheese called arancine as you collect stamps in your foodie passport.

Sip on a sweet Sicilian wine to wash down your fried treats, and then head for a seasonal dessert. You may indulge in Sicily’s famous cannoli (deep-fried pastry cylinders filled with sweetened ricotta cheese), some gelato or a refreshing granita (a fruity slushy).

From June-September, the tour lasts 3 hours and finishes at Piazza San Domenico. From October-May, the tour is extended to 4 hours and includes visits the Quattro Canti with its Baroque architecture, Piazza Pretoria and its impressive fountain and the Ballarò Market. This tour finishes at the Palermo Cathedral.

Such a fun way to spend a day in Palermo!
, Feb 2020
We had a fantastic experience on our street food tour! Our guide, Marco, was fun and informative, and the tour was a hit with both my husband and I and all four of our kids (ages 11 - 17). The tour was a perfect way to spend our limited time in Palmero as it mixed both food and history. Highly recommended!

Highlight of our Visit to Palermo - DON'T MISS
, Nov 2019
I am a bit of a foodie and looked forward to this morning tour. We booked this tour through Viator. Our guide was Savatori - he was fabulous! Your lucky if you have him as a guide. Funny, friendly, and spoke great English. He is a local and knows many of the market vendors. This is not really "street food" but a tour of two markets where prearranged stops at market stalls where samples (large - don't eat a large Breakfast) given to the group - sometimes sitting at tables. We were even given a tour of a kitchen were Arinchini's were being prepared. A great introduction to Sicilian Cuisine and fun to look for some of the items we tasted on menus though out our trip. Great fun!

Thank you so much from Salvatore and all Streaty staff! It's so gratifying to see our guests enjoy what we plan for them :) Exactly, we prearrange and preorder the must-try foods to make sure our foodies get the best of the streets. However, anytime we find something unexpected which is worth to pick it, we don't miss the chance to share it with our guests ;) Very happy to read your feedback! We hope to eat the streets with you soon again! Hugs from all team!

My wife and I had a wonderful time. we really enjoyed the host. He was very knowledge and a great sence of humor. But the best part was the food. I would highly recommend this tour to anybody who wants to enjoy the great food. .

Very interesting and lively tour

Our guide was Liviania, very knowledgeable and animated. She led us deftly through the market and streets of Palermo, giving us the opportunity to taste various dishes and relating the interesting cultural and social history behind them. Even for a non-foodie (like me) it was very enjoyable. And my partner, who is a foodie, was in seventh heaven.

We loved our street food walking tour with Angelo. He is very personable and made everyone feel welcome to enjoy his city, its food, its culture and history. His interactions with the various merchants and locals added to our enjoyment. There is plenty of food available, so bring your appetite. Don’t hesitate to try any of the foods. This tour makes a great first-day introduction to Palermo.

Excellent introduction into Sicilian food and great experience going through the busy food markets. The passport idea was great both for a memento and to identify the different foods we ate.

We loved this tour through the Palermo markets. We tasted some food we may not have otherwise - and it was delicious. Our guide was informative and fun. The people on the tour were from five different countries. A great cultural experience.
