Meet your guide in Piazza Verdi, near the iconic Teatro Massimo opera house. It’s the largest in Italy, and was in a pivotal scene in The Godfather: Part III. Get your Palermo ‘foodie’s passport,’ which you’ll get stamped at every tasting point along the tour.
Street food is cooked and served at street stalls, modest bakeries and old bars. This street food tour has been designed to show Palermo with no filters of any kind.
Begin making your way to the Vucciria Market and Mercato di Capo, two busy and colorful outdoor markets in Palermo. Listen as your guide offers insights into how Sicily’s unique culinary history informs its street food scene while vendors of local produce and seafood promote their goods. The Church of the Immaculate Conception is nearby, which you can visit if you like (own expense).
Get in line at neighborhood bakeries, cafes and street food stalls to try a variety of famous Sicilian street snacks. Munch on chickpea fritters called panelle and deep-fried balls of rice stuffed with meat, vegetables and cheese called arancine as you collect stamps in your foodie passport.
Sip on a sweet Sicilian wine to wash down your fried treats, and then head for a seasonal dessert. You may indulge in Sicily’s famous cannoli (deep-fried pastry cylinders filled with sweetened ricotta cheese), some gelato or a refreshing granita (a fruity slushy).
From June-September, the tour lasts 3 hours and finishes at Piazza San Domenico. From October-May, the tour is extended to 4 hours and includes visits the Quattro Canti with its Baroque architecture, Piazza Pretoria and its impressive fountain and the Ballarò Market. This tour finishes at the Palermo Cathedral.

WOW WOW WOW... this tour is a MUST.. We really can not stress how amazing it was. Salvo you deserve a pay rise!!

Firstly, Salvo thank you sir you was INCREDIBLE. We loved it, it was such a fun experience, so relaxing and so interesting.

You do not need to just love food to enjoy the tour, it was great any questions we had Salvo answered them. Any recommendations asked for Salvo helped us out.

We are vegetarian and don't drink, we thought like normal food tours there would be items we would not be able to eat. Salvo made sure that there was a substitute even if just for us. We felt so special.

We can not write words for how great and fun the tour was, it was supposed to last a few hours, without any complaints or ask for money the tour was extended and we all left with not only a full belly Arancini Ke Belly? but a new love for Sicily thanks to Salvo!

GRAZIE SALVO AND STREATY

The street food tour gave us so much insight into the history of Palermo, it’s people and their food traditions. It was an excellent way to learn our way around old Palermo and Alessandra, our guide, was so delightfully fun and energetic! We highly recommend doing this tour as soon as you land in Palermo.

We did this street food tour the first day in Palermo and it helped us as we ate elsewhere. Not only with knowing what to eat, how to eat it, and where to eat it on the streets. But, also with restaurants for after the tour. I had the best seafood pasta thanks to their list or recommendations. This tour gives a great insight into the food culture and traditions of the Sicilian people. Our tour guide exuded passion for his great city!

My husband and I had a wonderful time on this tour. It was our first day in Palermo, having arrived the night before, and it was the perfect way to get acquainted with the city. We got much more than a few tastings. We learned so much from our guide about the markets, and the lifestyle of Palermitanos. We recommend this tour very much!

25 years ago I worked in a restaurant in Palermo, and this summer I returned for the first time together with my husband and two children (11 and 14). I wanted to give them a quick guide to central Palermo and a glimpse of sicilian fast food. And I got so much more: we spent 3,5 hours (that seemed like 1 hour) accompanied by a very enthustiastic guide and my family was introduced in the most perfect way, not only to Palermo, but expecially to the very tasteful sicilian fast food. Who would ever have thought that an 11 year old would like snails and enjoy pani ca meusa! And that a 14 year old wasn't bored for a single second! And she is usually VERY critical... So when we finished the tour by eating the largest brioche with icecream and she stated

A great way to navigate the food markets of Palermo. The guide was friendly and knowledgeable. The tour was long enough but not too long. Go hungry- there is a lot to taste.

Our group of 4 had a fantastic time! The food and drinks were delicious and plenty to qualify as lunch. Our guide Salvatore (Salvo) was excellent! He was very knowledgeable about the city and very entertaining and kept the whole group engaged. I would highly recommend this experience.
